The latest Terri & Sherri award goes to Tony Campolo

I update this post whenever a new “evangelical Christian” officially caves and comes out publicly supporting the LGBTQX agenda.

simpsons-terri-sherri.jpgIn a move that should have surprised no one, Tony Campolo has come out in favor of “same-sex marriage” after much prayer/reflection/blah/blah/blah.  It reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons where the twins Terri and Sherri are speaking to Lisa:

Isn’t it amazing that the same day you got a pool is the same day we realized we liked you?  The timing works out great, don’t you think?

For Tony Campolo and other people bailing on biblical truths, it goes like this:

Isn’t it amazing that the same day God told me that he changed his rules on marriage it made me more popular?  The timing works out great, don’t you think?

By most accounts Campolo has been in the pro-LGBTQX camp for a long time, but he decided that now was the optimum time to make it official.  It is the “squishy evangelical Christian” version of 30 pieces of silver.

There were already lots of things wrong with Campolo’s theology.  This is just an official nail in the coffin.  His post describes what I had heard already, namely that his wife has guided his perverse, hateful theology.  What a shameful, pathetic excuse for a man and a husband.

I’m running this again in (dis)honor of Andy Stanley caving to the LGBTQX agenda right when it profited him the most.  Via Megachurch pastor rejects his father’s bigotry: Jesus would want you to bake a gay wedding cake:

There is not consensus in this room when it comes to same-sex attraction; there is not consensus in this room when it comes to gay marriage.

Those are the weasel words of a wimpy and/or false teacher who will go full pro-LGBTQX in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .

Gee, just because one group disagrees with something we can’t know the truth? Even Stanley doesn’t use that standard in any of his other quotes.

If you really love people you will tell them the truth. The Bible couldn’t be more clear. Bible-believing Christians and even two out of the three types of pro-gay people* (religious or not) can see these truths:

  • 100% of the verses addressing homosexual behavior describe it as sin in the clearest and strongest possible terms.
  • 100% of the verses referring to God’s ideal for marriage involve one man and one woman.
  • 100% of the verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).
  • 0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions of any kind. There are no exceptions for “committed” relationships.
  • 0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to LGBT couples parenting children.

Having said that, I believe that Christians should support and encourage those who are fighting same-sex attraction. And no one needs to grandstand on the issue before getting to the Good News of the cross.

Here are some more weasel words from Stanley. Yes, people claiming the name of Christ should do less of those things, but isn’t it convenient when he throws all Christians under the bus to curry favor with the LGBTQX extremists?

If all the Christians for just one year, would quit looking at porn, would quit smoking weed, would quit having premarital sex, would quit committing adultery, would pay their taxes, and every church just foster one kid — in one year our nation would feel different. . .

Yeah, and if all the false teachers shut up for a year it would feel different as well.

It is illuminating how the non-Christians commenting there agree with Stanley. Go figure. Churchgoers who support “same-sex marriage” have nearly identical views to the world. It shows who their real father is.

1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.

Jude 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Finally, as Erick Erickson pointed out, note in the article how Andy’s father’s church had to be protected from the LGBTQX people and not the other way around.

The liberal “church” has changed in the same ways culture has: Pro-legalized abortion, anti-parental notification laws, pro-gay marriage, pro-handing out condoms to kids, etc.

Think about this: Non-believers created the anti-abortion Hippocratic Oath and it took Satan 2,500 years to convince pagans to discard it.  Then it took another 15 minutes for theological Liberals to go pro-abortion.

Isn’t it amazing?  What great timing!  The liberal church realized it had been wrong on these important topics for nearly two thousand years, and came to that conclusion at virtually the same time as the secular culture.  That makes the world like them more, I suppose.

They also decided it was too embarrassing to believe in miracles, the authority of scripture, the exclusivity of Jesus, etc.  Or did that come first?

Thankfully, many churches in the West aren’t buying it and most of the churches outside the West aren’t either.  The first time I was in Kenya one of the full-time missionaries, a doctor from England, kept saying how the Kenyans were really disappointed in the U.S. when they heard about churches supporting gay “marriages.”   It wasn’t like they were thinking, “Gee, those brilliant Westerners know everything, perhaps we should follow them.”  It was more like, “Whoa, what are they thinking?!”

* The three general types of pro-gay theology people:

1. “The Bible says homosexuality is wrong but it isn’t the word of God.” (Obviously non-Christians)

2. “The Bible says it is wrong but God changed his mind and is only telling the theological Left.” (Only about 10 things wrong with that.)

3. “The Bible is the word of God but you are just misunderstanding it” (Uh, no, not really.)

Shocking news: Rob Bell mocks Bible

Via Oprah Asked This Ex-Megachurch Pastor When Christianity Will Embrace Gay Relationships — and His Answer Seemed to Take Her By Surprise

What a shocker: Rob Bell said:

I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, and co-workers and neighbors, and they love each other and just want to go through life with someone

Did you see how he mocked the word of God?  Yeah, as if the Bible is too old to be a good defense.

Jude 3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.  For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

“Useful Idiots for Baal”

Erick Erickson does a great take down of Rob Bell, Rachel Held Evans, Donald Miller, Jim Wallis, Joel Osteen and more.   We need more of this!  Via Useful Idiots for Baal:

Too many of these people, often hipster prophets, make people comfortable in their sin while trying to sell Jesus. One comfortable in his sin rarely sees the need to embrace one who will extricate him from his sin. These peddlers of pop Christianity are useful idiots for Baal because they claim their faith in Christ without ever making anyone uncomfortable in their here and now. Christ made people uncomfortable.

As a friend noted this passage from Bonhoeffer last night in email:

“The messengers of Jesus will be hated to the end of time. They will be blamed for all the division which rend cities and homes. Jesus and his disciples will be condemned on all sides for undermining family life, and for leading the nation astray; they will be called crazy fanatics and disturbers of the peace.”

— Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “The Cost of Discipleship,” 1937.

The useful idiots of Baal are not willing to go along for that ride. They’d rather their Jesus bake cakes for gay weddings.

NALT (“Not All Like That”) Christians = Not Christians

John Shore is a false teacher who has started a group perpetuating the false dichotomy that everyone claiming the name of Christ is in one of the following categories:

  1. Aligned with their pro-gay theology, where homosexuality, bisexuality, transgenderism, etc. are gifts from God and it is sinful to say otherwise.
  2. Someone like Democrat Fred “God hates fags” Phelps and his Westboro “church”

That is transparently ridiculous, of course.  There are countless Christians who believe the Bible and agree with God’s views yet can still reach out to gays with truth and love.  The message is simple: We don’t have to make people straight before sharing the Good News with them.  You can tell them that even if homosexual behavior wasn’t a sin they would all have plenty of other sins for which they need forgiveness, just like straight people.  But if you really love them then you won’t lie about God’s truths and you won’t affirm them in physically, emotionally and spiritually destructive behavior.

Here is more about the NALT group:

(Notalllikethat.org) – The purpose of the NALT Christians Project is to give LGBT-affirming Christians a means of proclaiming to the world—and especially to young gay people—their belief and conviction that there is nothing anti-biblical or at all inherently sinful about being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

It is a train wreck of bad theology, and to make things worse they “especially” target to young people.  Something about millstones comes to mind.

  • 100% of the verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).planned
  • 0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions of any kind.

The more you read about this group the creepier it gets.  When John Shore plugs himself on Amazon, his top three quotes reveal what he is all about.

One is from Rob Bell, a false teacher.  I can see why Shore would use him given Bell’s popularity, but Bell is still awful.

Then there is Shelby Spong, the fake Christian who always wears a clerical collar so people don’t confuse him with the head of the National Atheist Association.  That’s how anti-biblical he is.

But the first reference Shore uses in every site I’ve seen is from Dan Savage, an on-the-record Christ-hating atheist bully, the guy who coined the phrase “Santorum” to describe a disgusting by-product of gay sex**.

Dan Savage (“Savage Love”; It Gets Better) calls John Shore “America’s preeminent non-douchey Christian.” Rob Bell (“Love Wins”) has declared Mr. Shore “awesome,” and “a brilliant writer.” “John Shore is a gadfly,” wrote famed theologian John Shelby Spong, “calling the Christian Church everywhere to act the way it says it believes about love and justice, which of course makes him an uncomfortable presence in those churches that do not like to be forced to face reality. So were the prophets of old. So was Jesus of Nazareth.”

If Dan Savage likes your theology then something has gone horribly, horribly wrong.  That would be something to be ashamed of, not to be used as your top reference.

Not surprisingly, Spong compared Shore to the prophets and Jesus.  But Jesus and the prophets were wildly unpopular with the world, while Shore is loved by the world and those who hate God and his word.

I can’t think of a single person who pushes pro-gay theology that isn’t off the rails on the essentials of the faith.  Peel back the layers and you’ll find that if they are pro-gay then they deny most or all of the following: Jesus’ divinity, Jesus’ exclusivity for salvation, the authority of scripture, etc.  They pretend to like the Bible while undermining it at every turn.

My favorite tactic with them is to point out how the Bible teaches over 100 times that Jesus is the only way to salvation, so of course it is a view that every Christian must hold.  Then I ask if they agree with it.  Of course, they don’t.  That helps expose them for what they are.

You can comment on Shore’s NALT project here.  Here is another good response to these frauds.

Run, don’t walk, from people who claim to follow Jesus yet talk like Shore, Bell and Spong. It is beyond parody that a Christian would consider an endorsement from Dan Savage to be a good thing.  The only thing worse would be an endorsement from Satan himself.

** In a spectacular irony, Savage infamously led to the coining of the term “Santorum” to describe the disgusting byproducts of a gay sex act: “the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex.”

He was trying to get back at former Senator Santorum for labeling homosexual acts as sinful, but Savage didn’t realize the net result of his name-calling.  After all, it is Savage’s disgusting byproduct that is the problem. Assigning someone else’s name to your filthy output doesn’t demean them, it demeans you.  What self-mockery!

Rob Bell = false teacher

Rob Bell is and has beenfalse teacher.  It is interesting how Rob “forgets” that he “just switched” to this position. It is obvious that he always held it but waited until it profited him to admit it. It is another sign of him being a false teaching wolf.

“That’s how the world is and we should affirm that” — Rob Bell on his primary justification for supporting “same-sex marriage.”

Yes, that’s how the world is. And we are not to be like the world. Bell explicitly is following the world.  He is embarrassed of Jesus and the Bible.

He tries to pretend that “same-sex marriage” is no big deal and that we should be focused on other things.  But it is the social issue of our time and quickly eroding religious and political freedoms and splitting the church.

He whines about how people are tired of being expected to be orthodox.  That is the opposite of the Bible.

Run, don’t walk, from false teachers like Bell who just want to please the world.  And warn others of him!

Jim Wallis of Sojourners: Still a false teacher

When my youngest daughter was taking a Jr. College class on government during her last year of high school (home schooling), she asked if I had ever heard of Jim Wallis.  Apparently her textbook had an extended quote by him.  We are blessed with daughters that have outstanding discernment, so I was overjoyed but not surprised that even in a Liberal class and textbook she saw that he was a fake.

I’d say he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing but he’s so far gone that I think he took of the sheep’s clothing.  Must have gotten too warm.  In a move that should surprise no one, he just switched to supporting oxymoronic “same-sex marriage.”  He, like Rob Bell and others, waited until the precise moment that it would profit him to “change his mind.”

Of course there was no substance to his change, just blather about strengthening marriage (another lie).

“We are losing marriage in this society. I’m worried about that – among low income people, but all people. How do we commit liberals and conservatives to re-covenanting marriage, reestablishing, renewing marriage?”

When The Huffington Post asked Wallis to clarify if that meant he specifically supports same-sex marriage, Wallis answered, “yes.”

Isn’t that special?  He has taken it upon himself to do the opposite of what God said and act like he’s just trying to help marriages.  It has nothing to do with maintaining his popularity!

More about Wallis:

  • He is a faux-lifer, which is worse than being openly pro-abortion because of the added deception.  He blathers about “social justice” while ignoring the greatest injustice in our country: Killing unwanted human beings.
  • While posing as a centrist, he accepted funding from pro-abortion Leftist George Soros then lied about it.
  • He is a shameless race-baiter.
  • Worst of all, he specifically denies the real Gospel and says the Gospel “is all about wealth redistribution.”

From a January 13, 2006 radio interview with Interfaith Voices:

Host: Are you then calling for the redistribution of wealth in society?

Wallis: Absolutely, without any hesitation.  That’s what the Gospel is all about.

Run, don’t walk, from people like Jim Wallis.

Kudos to false teacher Chuck Currie and apostate denominations like the UCC!

Sure, the hateful, libelous, perverted, radical pro-abortionist, race-baiting Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie is a false teacher and his denomination is no different.  But give credit where it is due!  At least these anti-Christs change immediately whenever the world does (OK, there is a 15 minute gap for them to issue press releases and blog posts, but let’s not quibble).

Contrast that with false teachers like Rob Bell and Jim “the Gospel is all about wealth redistribution” who pretend they are Bible-believers but wait until much later to reveal how they are now pro-taxpayer-funded abortion, pro-oxymoronic “same-sex marriage,” etc. (See Jim Wallis officially supports oxymoronic “Same-Sex Marriage” and Rob Bell, Terri and Sherri from The Simpsons, and perfect timing).  They wait until the last possible second, then “change their minds” at the same time that their new views help them rather than hurt them.  Shocking!

Just watch what happens with pedophilia, the perception of which is now undergoing the same behind the scenes changes as homosexual behavior did.  Within a decade the psychology establishment will say it’s OK and Chuck and the UCC will immediately say they were born that way, we must care for the least of these, “God is still speaking” and is now cool with pedophilia, blah blah blah.  Then in another 10 years or so Wallis, Bell and the like will casually change their minds with some weak rationale.

Wolves are very predictable that way.  Satan uses early adopters like the UCC to get things started but knows not to rush things too much.  That’s where useful tools like Wallis and Bell come in handy for him.

Rob Bell, Goldfish Lady and “hearing from God”

Did you read about the woman who claims she found a ‘sign from God’ on Goldfish cracker?  It is another in a long and sad line of people allegedly finding signs of God, Jesus, Mary, etc. in all sorts of things.  And you can totally trust them, because in a world of trillions of items you’d never find something similar looking by accident, right?  And of course we know exactly what Jesus really looked like, so we can identify his image in grilled cheese sandwiches.

It’s a fishy story, but the woman telling it believes it’s pure gold. The Florida resident says the markings she found on a Goldfish cracker are a direct message affirming her Christian faith.

“I believe that it’s a sign, a sign from God,” Patti Burke told WKMG. “He is still in our life every day, and he wants to show that to his people.”

It’s not quite manna, but in Burke’s eyes it’s a manifestation of her faith.

The cracker in question has two markings, or imperfections, on its surface. Burke says the first marking is of a cross with a circle around it. The second marking, near the head of the fish, represents a golden crown.

“When I picked this one up, I knew he was special,” she said. “Something I’ve never seen before out of all the Goldfish I’ve eaten.”

I would love to know how much she reads the Bible. If she did she’d have all the assurance she needs of what God is really like and she’d realize that when He communicates to people He doesn’t do it via ambiguous messages in Goldfish crackers (did I really have to type that?!). She is obviously not well grounded in her faith and is “saved and confused” at best.

She is an extreme case, of course, and brings much mockery to the faith. So does her pastor who supported her publicly. But there is a lot of sloppy “God talk” that is just as fact-free as her foolishness, it just isn’t as obvious. The “God told me _____” phrase — unless followed by scripture, in context — is often tied to some sort of mischief. I read of one woman who opened an abortion clinic after seeing a “sign from God” on a bathroom wall. Seriously.

And while her situation is more extreme, is it really much different than what Rob Bell, the United Church of Christ or other false teachers claim when they say that “God is still speaking” and giving them new revelations?  (Uh, even though they didn’t believe him the first time and He just happens to be giving these revelations only to theological Liberals in the West, and even then He only does it roughly 15 minutes after the Pagans have figured it out.)

A big part of the problem is that there are too many Bible Cheerleaders who like all sorts of Facebook statuses about God, Jesus, the Bible, etc. but they don’t actually read the book.

Dear Christians, please-please-please read your Bibles carefully and think before you talk or type.  With effort I’ve gotten better at it over the years and I say fewer stupid things now.  Really, the system works.

P.S. This portion of the main link wasn’t relevant to the post, but you can have fun making up punch lines.

Burke admittedly has been working from a large sample size, consuming between two and three pounds of the crackers per week. She says she eats the small crackers individually, examining each one for the optimal amount of savory coating.

Two good iPhone apps recommended by my 83 yr. old father — Appygraph (send cards via text, with your pictures pasted in) and Heart Rate (you put your finger on the camera lens and it takes your pulse).  Apparently he’s the go-to guy for high tech.  And my 78 yr. old mom had him text a picture of something to her in a store.  Glad to see they are up on the latest things!

‘Revealing Heaven:’ Episcopal Pastor Details Hundreds of Near-Death Experiences, Backs Rob Bell — I know the author and have done prison ministry with him. I’m very disappointed at the direction he has taken. Rob Bell?! Ugh. I can’t see how he missed the obvious, namely that these things are demonic. Who would want to reassure people that everything is swell and they are definitely going to Heaven and don’t need to repent and believe?

The Post Resurrection Behavior of Jesus Eliminates the Possibility of an Imposter — a good refutation of a false theory about the resurrection.

The Atlanta Public School cheating scandal was immense in its breadth and duration, not to mention its recklessness.  This shouldn’t be a surprise, though.  Unionized bureaucrats and teachers rarely have the interests of the children at heart.  It is one more reason the “No Child Left Behind” and all other Federal initiatives are doomed to cause more problems than they solve.  Education funding and incentives should be as local as possible.  Federal initiatives are a waste that just lead to more corruption like this.

Fulton County prosecutors announced that a grand jury had indicted the Atlanta Public Schools’ ex-superintendent and nearly three dozen other former administrators, teachers, principals and other educators of charges arising from a standardized test cheating scandal that rocked the system.

Former Superintendent Beverly Hall faces charges including conspiracy, making false statements and theft because prosecutors said some of the bonuses she received were tied to falsified scores. Hall retired just days before the findings of a state probe were released in mid-2011. A nationally known educator who was named Superintendent of the Year in 2009, Hall has long denied knowing about the cheating or ordering it.

During a news conference Friday, Howard highlighted the case of Juwanna and another student, saying they demonstrated “the plight of many children” in the Atlanta school system.

Their stories were among many that investigators heard in hundreds of interviews with school administrators, staff, parents and students during a 21-month-long investigation.

Hmm. Turns out Karl Marx was just as smelly and personally useless as his modern-day acolytes!  The NY Times is honest about what Marx is like but doesn’t seem to get the current correlation:

The Karl Marx depicted in Jonathan Sperber’s absorbing, meticulously researched biography will be unnervingly familiar to anyone who has had even the most fleeting acquaintance with radical politics. Here is a man never more passionate than when attacking his own side, saddled with perennial money problems and still reliant on his parents for cash, constantly plotting new, world-changing ventures yet having trouble with both deadlines and personal hygiene, living in rooms that some might call bohemian, others plain “slummy,” and who can be maddeningly inconsistent when not lapsing into elaborate flights of theory and unintelligible abstraction.

Still, it comes as a shock to realize that the ultimate leftist, the father of Communism itself, fits a recognizable pattern.

Global warming: Still a hoax.  And the notion that it was man-caused was a bigger hoax.

Socialized Medicine: Money for Fake Boobs as Patients Starve — The title says it all, but it left out the part about gender-reassignment surgery (i.e., self-mutilation) being covered as well:

Why are capitalist countries wealthy and socialist countries poor? Because the free market allocates resources more wisely than bureaucrats. This is how healthcare resources are allocated under Britain’s regime of socialized medicine:

Britain’s National Health Service, the NHS, recently spent £4,800 — about $7,200 — on enormous breast implants for an aspiring model while nearly 1,200 patients starved to death in hospitals over the past four years. Critics say the deaths were caused by neglect due to understaffing.

The NHS provided Josie Cunningham with 36DD implants in January after she told her doctor that being flat-chested was causing emotional distress.

It gets worse:

In addition to the breast implants, the NHS has also spent £25,000 — about $37,000 — on a sex-change operation for a 19-year-old male diagnosed with “gender identity disorder.”

Wow, check out the anti-gay hate speech from all of these . . . Democrats?!?!  Not shocking at all, really.  And not hate speech, of course.  They just said whatever would optimize their votes, just like most Republicans do.  But their words at the were true, even if they didn’t believe them.  They have no substantive reasons for their change other than public opinion.

Child’s complaints of sexual abuse by gay couple were ignored by social workers — political correctness yields many victims.

University Compares Pro-Life Students to White Supremacists — But of course!  Abortions kill blacks at a rate 3 times that of whites, and the taxpayer-funded abortion portion of the Democrats’ platform will increase that, so of course the pro-choicers are like white supremacists or worse.  Oh, wait, what’s that? They said the pro-lifers were like the supremacists?!?!  Wow.

Abortion kills unwanted innocent but human beings.  It is a scientific fact and basic common sense that a new human being is created at fertilization.  So if someone calls you anti-abortion, don’t get defensive.  Embrace it!  Would you apologize for being anti-slavery?
