Roundup

This is another important verse about decision-making and the will of God, but as in the last Roundup, it is easy to overlook.  Note how Paul has an open door in the Lord, but this time he passes it by because he wants to find his friend Titus.  Apparently, Paul has other open doors from which to choose.  He didn’t appear to be idle.  So unless God gives you a clear, unmistakable, supernatural sign, then choose with freedom.

2 Corinthians 2:12–13 When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though a door was opened for me in the Lord, my spirit was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia.

Short answer: Yes. Another good video.

100% of the verses addressing homosexual behavior denounce it as sin in the strongest possible terms.

100% of the verses referencing God’s ideal for marriage involve one man and one woman.

100% of the verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).

0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions.

When a woman miscarries at 8 weeks, or the doctor fails to see a heartbeat at 20 weeks, or the child is stillborn at 34 weeks, does the mother rejoice? Does the father cheer? Do the friends and parents remain indifferent? No. They weep. Life has been lost. We know. We all know. Kevin DeYoung

That great quote had mostly pro-life responses, but also got the following tired, lame, and deadly virtue-signaling from a male feminist (such a low form of humanity!). And of course, Mr. Science Person called it a potential life, even though by any scientific standard it is a living human being.

*potential life. Until pro-life people want to talk about doing more to prevent unwanted pregnancies (besides abstinence-only sex ed), and doing more to make sure that women who choose to carry unexpected pregnancies to term… your words are meaningless.

My short response is this: We oppose the crushing and dismembering of children inside or outside the womb. Nothing else is required to meaningfully oppose abortion.

Or you can share any of these nine reasons.

The “Christian” Left makes up all sorts of reasons about what they think Jesus’ mission was, and they often think that everyone gets saved (or doesn’t even need to be saved). Of course, they don’t think He was the divine, incarnate Son of God, but that’s another issue with them. But one of the first passages of the first book of the New Testament tells what his main purpose was, and notes that only his people will be saved.

Matthew 1:20–21 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

Trump Reaffirms Lab Leak Theory, Ex-Intel Head Pushes Declassification — The lab leak theory was always the most obvious answer, but the Leftist politicians and media — including social media — immediately covered it up as thoroughly as the Chinese government did. She thinks it is racism against blacks, as if black lives don’t matter. But it is her Leftist media that embargos coverage about the rampant black-on-black crime in inner cities. Find a mirror, sweetheart, and start covering the Democrat-caused carnage any time you like. The Leftist media tells us that the Leftist media is biased. You should believe them.

And the Leftist media barely spent any time on George Floyd, so there’s that . . .

Remember how Obama lied to the country to impose de facto open borders?

He did this by getting his open borders allies to call him “The Deporter in Chief.” This was supposedly an insult. Actually, it was arranged cover. Obama wanted the public to think the open borders lobby was displeased with him, and that he was the “greatest deporter in American history.”

This was a lie. Obama was deporting fewer people than his predecessors. To make it look like he was deporting more, he did what he did with the “Jobs Created or Saved” numbers: He got the Democrat government bureaucracy to change the way they calculated the numbers deported.

Specifically, he had the bureaucracy count those merely intercepted at the border and turned away as “deported.” Those people had never before been considered “deported.” They were merely halted.

This passage stopped me in my tracks the first time I read through the Bible. It explains so much. Atheists know that God exists. Yes, be charitable and share apologetic arguments with them along with the Bible, but do so with the confidence that deep down they know you are right, and remember that only God can make them spiritually alive. And be grateful that He made you spiritually alive and able to see his truth, because you and I would never have done so in our sinful flesh.

Romans 1:18–21 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

When I was in kindergarten, my teacher looked like Barbara Bush, only she was even nicer. Truly iconic. But the teacher across the hall was gruff. We had a joint class one day, and the other teacher was trying to make the point that the sun was made of gas, so you couldn’t stand on it regardless of its temperature. She had apparently taught her class that. But every time she asked, “Why can’t you stand on the sun — but do not say it is because it is too hot,” some kid would eventually sheepishly answer, “Because it is too hot?” The teacher got madder and madder as she repeated the question and kept getting the same answer. Six-year old me knew enough to keep my mouth shut. I hope that in Heaven I’ll get to watch a replay of that.

All that to say that this video makes me think of her.

So You Married a Feminist — Some good advice. It is almost impossible not to have been tainted by the pervasiveness of feminism. Much of what passes for conservatism isn’t conserving biblical values, as it should, but conserving the Leftist thoughts of 10-20 years ago, on a rolling basis. So it feel like conservatism but is worldly. Example: See how many “evangelicals” have shifted to pro-gay positions. It isn’t like the Bible changed.

Men on strike: the social changes that caused men to opt out of marriage — Things have changed a lot, and even more rapidly in recent years. The deck is completely stacked in favor of women. They zoomed past “equality” long ago: False rape charges without consequences, no-fault divorce, paternity fraud that the legal system refuses to correct, anti-male bias in schools and the workplace, and more. Men need to be very, very careful. And feminist men are the worst, as they exacerbate the problems. They shoot the real men in the back, thinking that the feminists will reward them for it.

In each of those cases, the man was found liable to pay child support – including the case of the 15-year-old boy, who was forced to pay child support to his statutory rapist when he turned 18. This is how the court system works, and more and more men are understanding the risks.

I love this passage. Peter is wondering about when he will die relative to when John will, and Jesus sets him straight. That’s good advice for all of us: Just follow Jesus! We don’t need to know what He will do with other people, or why things have played out as they have. It also points to Jesus’ divinity, as He is the one who determines how long we will live.

John 21:22 Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!”

Op-Ed: An Open Letter to Christians Using Preferred Pronouns — I agree. If you meet someone for the first time, then I think you are stuck using the preferred name they give you. And there are all sorts of odd and unisex names out there. But you don’t use pronouns when talking directly to someone, so it isn’t a politeness issue anyway. But it is lying and caving in to bullying to deliberately use the wrong pronouns. Don’t be cowards. I’ll get fired before I put my pronouns in a work email or whatever — although I’d be tempted to say they are XY/XY/XY, as in XY chromosomes.

If the winner of the 1976 Men’s Decathlon is a female, then Karen Carpenter was fat. If you truly love your neighbors you won’t indulge their delusions and/or perversions — and you certainly won’t force others to indulge them or tell kids they may not “really” be boys or girls.

In short, to declare your own gender is to attempt a coup d’etat of Heaven, to overthrow God, and to sit on his throne as the Creator and the dispenser of genders. Might the Lord cast you down like the civilization of Babel and scatter you like its haughty descendants (Genesis 11:9)

When you use someone’s “preferred gender pronoun that corresponds with their expressed gender identity” you are bearing false witness against them (Exodus 20:16). We are not to lie about our neighbors, and even the wicked and/or mentally or spiritually ill are our neighbors (Luke 10:25-37). If you were suffering from a mental or spiritual malady that gave you delusions or self-deceptions, you would not want people to reinforce it, but free you from it. Ergo, to use ‘preferred pronouns’ is not loving your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31). It is mean-spirited and unloving.

Furthermore, to lie about someone’s pronoun is not only to bear false witness against your neighbor, but it is to bear false witness against God. God made them male or female, and you lie about the King of Glory and the work of his hands. If someone were to say that heavens declare the glory of Satan and the stars show his handiwork, they would be blaspheming God. And because God makes gender, to imply an individual gets to make their own gender by using their preferred pronouns, is blaspheming God.

I think there is an unfortunate chapter break between Luke 20 and 21. I used to think that the widow’s mite passage was an encouragement to give more, but a sermon by John MacArthur disabused me of that. The context is how the scribes are bad, including devouring widows’ houses. Then it shows how a widow gives all she had to live on. We should give generously, of course (2 Cor. 9), but the notion that we would daily give all we have to live on is absurd. It would be irresponsible to do that. And the next passage is about how the temple will be coming down soon anyway.

Luke 20:46–47 “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, who devour widows’ houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”

Luke 21:1–4 Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

A couple great passages that should make the “Christian” Left wake up. They don’t know the scriptures (or they know them and deny them) and they don’t know the power of God. And despite claiming to hold to the “red letters,” they are ashamed of his words 24×7. They think He is a bigot because of his views on sex and marriage.

Mark 8:36–38 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? I want men to stop giving money to Only Fans women — Guys who support OF and such are pathetic. Cut off the demand for that nonsense and the supply will diminish. Both genders are at fault here. I read an awful story about a boy getting teased mercilessly at school because his mom was on OF and refused to stop. She made money and it made her feel good. Sick. That kid will probably harm himself.

Dating apps have rapidly and dramatically altered the landscape for the worse. 80-90% of women will only consider 10-20% of guys. The top guys know this and are unlikely to ever commit, especially when “sleeping down” with the lower-value women. Yet those women are “alpha widows,” thinking that they should be able to get a top guy (by the world’s definition) to commit. It won’t happen. These women have convinced themselves that guys won’t (and shouldn’t) care about their notch counts, but that is a fantasy. No self-respecting guy wants a woman who has had s3x with dozens or hundreds of guys and now wants to settle with him — probably temporarily — for some beta bucks.

And the women generally have rigid standards (e.g., 6′ tall, 6 figure income, etc.), some of which a guy can’t control. Yet the women freak out when men have simple standards (tat-free, debt-free virgins). Despite what feminism has told women, most men don’t care if you have a successful career.

The women will cry and ask “where have all the good men gone?” The answer, as always, is that they are where the women left them: In the Friend Zone.

Of course, I believe in repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. But behaviors have consequences. The world has been lying to men and women in increasingly ridiculous ways, and if you believe those lies you will experience harm.

Texas Pro-Life Law Stands, Left Begins Meltdown — More good news! Of course, the Molech-worshiping ghouls are wetting their pants over this. I think we should abolish abortion completely, but laws that reduce them save lives. A dim-witted congresswoman said the law would harm queer people (huh?!) and impact black women more than white. Feminism & Its Failures — How low will they have to go before they admit what an abject failure it is? We need more patriarchy.

Happiness metrics confirm that women are struggling: Suicides, depression, substance abuse, and sexually transmitted infections have all increased dramatically over the last five decades. Women aren’t becoming happier, just more medicated. A 2020 Pew Report showed that over 50 percent of liberal white women under 30 have some sort of mental-health issue. That statistic alone is stunning enough to indicate that something is going very wrong for the modern woman, despite the steady uptick of feminist advances.

Priscilla Shirer’s dangerous and false teaching

Priscilla Shirer is a famous Christian author, and far too many people (primarily women) buy her books and believe her nonsense. She equates the Bible with hand-me-down clothes and insists that God must give you something fresh and new. And even if you get it wrong, you should keep claiming to speak for God. You’d have to be biblically ignorant not to immediately dismiss her false teachings. She’s a clever wolf, actively teaching you to ignore the Bible and go with your own feelings of what God is supposedly telling you directly.  That won’t turn out well.

Years ago we were members of a generally solid Bible-believing Baptist church.  However, the women’s group studied one of Shirer’s books that claimed to teach you how to hear from God. That’s nonsensical on its face, of course, as if God isn’t speaking to you, there is nothing to hear, and if God is speaking to you, then you couldn’t miss it if you tried.  She turned the story of Samuel on its head, claiming that Samuel needed to learn how to hear from God.  Sadly, the pastors were reluctant to get involved and correct the women.

Shirer has made a career out of her false teaching.  Via Priscilla Shirer Attacks the Bible as ‘Hand-me-down Revelation’:

In the clip, she is saying that having a preacher teach the scripture is insufficient and not personalized enough, that it gets stale, old, and is a mark of immaturity to not seek more. In contrast, it is a sign of growth and wisdom to want more than that, and so seek some “revelation” that is new, fresh, and personalized just for you.

Speaking within the context of receiving clothing hand-me-downs, Shirer creates the analogy by recounting how one year as a young girl she was not excited to get hand-me-downs, because the clothes “had not been specifically chosen for me.”

“And I’ve been okay with hand-me-downs with secondhand clothes all of these years, but all of a sudden I want of my own stuff. I wanted something to come with my name on it that had specifically been chosen for me. There ought to come a time in your relationship with the Lord, when hand-me-down revelation just doesn’t do it for you anymore.

There ought to come a little bit of disconcerting, a little bit of maturity in your walk with God where you become a little bit unsettled to only be spoon-fed the Word of God from someone else to you.

Now, we thank God for our pastors and our teachers and our leaders that help us to rightly divide the word of truth *but* there ought to come a time in your life where you’ve decided, “You know what? I want fresh revelation with my name on it that has come straight from God’s Spirit for my life.”

As with most false teachers, Shirer doesn’t want you to read the Bible.  Why?  Because you might realize how anti-biblical her teachings are!  The more you read the Bible, the more you’ll realize how awful she is.

Pray for discernment in the church and that people would read the Bible more.  And never trust Christian bookstores.

Here’s my lesson on decision making and the will of God and hearing from God.

Memorizing Scripture

If you want to memorize Bible verses I highly recommend the Bible Memory software.  The online version is free and the app is inexpensive.  You pick the verses you want, then you can practice typing over them, filling in every other word or typing them from memory.  You have the option to just type the first letter of the word, which is a huge time-saver.

I am not good at memorizing, but this app has made all the difference.  It takes a lot of repetition for me to remember passages, but eventually I get there.  I’ve been able to memorize over 1,000 verses, including individual verses, short passages, the Sermon on the Mount, the Book of Philippians, Romans 8, the Book of Jude and more.

Just start small and select a few verses.  You’ll pick up momentum and confidence, and you’ll be surprised how often God gives you opportunities to use the verses you’ve memorized, either reminding yourself of them or sharing his truth with others.

If you remember the book of the Bible from where you got the passage, that’s helpful, and chapters and verses are a bonus.  But as you probably know, the chapter breaks and verses weren’t in the originals.  The New Testament quotes the Old Testament many times but makes no attempt to even note the book being quoted.  Hebrews 2:6 even says, “It has been testified somewhere, “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him?”  The verse quoted Psalm 8 but just noted that it was “testified somewhere.”

I think you’ll be blessed if you make it a practice to learn more and more verses and passages.  And as I cycle back through verses I’ve memorized I try to meditate on what they mean, in context.  I have to fight the urge to do rote memorization, as if I was trying to remember Pi to 100 places.

Aside from memorizing important theological truths, you can use the app to memorize handy lists, such as the names of the 12 tribes of Israel (Exodus 1:2-4), the names of the 12 apostles (Matthew 10:2-4), the books of Bible (you can edit a verse to add the list), the names of the seven “ites” living in the Promised Land (Canaanites, Hittites, etc. – Joshua 3:10), the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-19) and others.

I go through some verses as part of my morning devotional time and and other times during the day.  I have no social media apps on my phone.  Instead I can read the Bible or go through memory verses if I have free time or am stuck somewhere like the doctor’s office.

If you aren’t already doing so, give it a try!

Step 1: Listen to false prophet instead of God. Step 2: Get killed by a lion.

I was reading 1 Kings 13 this morning and was reminded of this post.  I also had someone I do prison ministry with send a link to a ridiculous video of Sid Roth (he’s a disgusting “prophecy”  guy who has one false teacher after another on his show).  I pointed out to the guy that Roth and his guests were shameless wolves and sent a link to a Justin Peters video (see the video at the bottom) that thoroughly exposed them.  But the guy still wants to believe the phonies!  Such a terrible lack of discernment in the church today.

I love this passage because it exposes the dangers of listening to those who claim to have heard from God instead of just hearing from him directly by reading the Bible.  What do you trust more, the Bible or some huckster who claims to have heard from God?

It is unwise in the extreme to listen to the “Christian” Left or any of the phony “prophets” who mock the word of God while claiming to be getting new and accurate messages from him (such as the “God is still speaking;” slogan of the apostate United Church of Christ).

Have you read 1 Kings 13 lately (see below), where a “man of God” initially obeyed a direct command from God but then believed a prophet who falsely claimed that God told him something different?  It didn’t end well.  And by “didn’t end well,” I mean he got killed by a lion.

Now am I saying that if you listen to false teachers about what God “really” says rather than the Bible that you’ll get killed by a lion?  Of course not.  You probably live in North America, so God will use a bear instead of a lion.

Just kidding!  Probably!  While God often uses examples in the Bible to show how serious sins are, such as with Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5, by his grace and mercy He doesn’t give us all what we deserve.  But that doesn’t mean we should confuse his patience with his approval.

We are commanded to love God with our minds and we should use good discernment when listening to people make claims about God, regardless of their titles or reputation.  Remember to be like good Bereans and test everything in light of scripture (Acts 17:11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.).  But how can you do that if you aren’t reading the Bible regularly?

If people claim to have heard from God then the burden of proof is on them to back it up.  If they are teaching things that disagree with the Bible (e.g., Jesus isn’t the only way to salvation, we don’t know what God really said in the Bible, pro-abortion, pro-“same-sex marriage,” etc.) then they should be ignored.  If they hold those views and say that God spoke to them then they are lying, just like the old prophet in 1 Kings 13.  False teachers are deadly — not always physically, but certainly spiritually.

Read the Bible, then read it some more.  Every day.  Then you’ll be much more likely to spot the false teachers.

One of the reasons to go through the Old Testament is that otherwise you’ll miss great stories like this!

1 Kings 13 (ESV)

A Man of God Confronts Jeroboam

13 And behold, a man of God came out of Judah by the word of the Lord to Bethel. Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make offerings. And the man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord and said, “O altar, altar, thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name, and he shall sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who make offerings on you, and human bones shall be burned on you.’ ” And he gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign that the Lord has spoken: ‘Behold, the altar shall be torn down, and the ashes that are on it shall be poured out.’ ” And when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him.” And his hand, which he stretched out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back to himself. The altar also was torn down, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of the Lord. And the king said to the man of God, “Entreat now the favor of the Lord your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.” And the man of God entreated the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored to him and became as it was before. And the king said to the man of God, “Come home with me, and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.” And the man of God said to the king, “If you give me half your house, I will not go in with you. And I will not eat bread or drink water in this place, for so was it commanded me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘You shall neither eat bread nor drink water nor return by the way that you came.’ ” 10 So he went another way and did not return by the way that he came to Bethel.

The Prophet’s Disobedience

11 Now an old prophet lived in Bethel. And his sons came and told him all that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told to their father the words that he had spoken to the king. 12 And their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” And his sons showed him the way that the man of God who came from Judah had gone. 13 And he said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” So they saddled the donkey for him and he mounted it. 14 And he went after the man of God and found him sitting under an oak. And he said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” And he said, “I am.” 15 Then he said to him, “Come home with me and eat bread.” 16 And he said, “I may not return with you, or go in with you, neither will I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place, 17 for it was said to me by the word of the Lord, ‘You shall neither eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by the way that you came.’ ” 18 And he said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house that he may eat bread and drink water.’ ” But he lied to him. 19 So he went back with him and ate bread in his house and drank water.

20 And as they sat at the table, the word of the Lord came to the prophet who had brought him back. 21 And he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Because you have disobeyed the word of the Lord and have not kept the command that the Lord your God commanded you, 22 but have come back and have eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread and drink no water,” your body shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.’ ” 23 And after he had eaten bread and drunk, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back. 24 And as he went away a lion met him on the road and killed him. And his body was thrown in the road, and the donkey stood beside it; the lion also stood beside the body. 25 And behold, men passed by and saw the body thrown in the road and the lion standing by the body. And they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.

26 And when the prophet who had brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who disobeyed the word of the Lord; therefore the Lord has given him to the lion, which has torn him and killed him, according to the word that the Lord spoke to him.” 27 And he said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” And they saddled it. 28 And he went and found his body thrown in the road, and the donkey and the lion standing beside the body. The lion had not eaten the body or torn the donkey. 29 And the prophet took up the body of the man of God and laid it on the donkey and brought it back to the city to mourn and to bury him. 30 And he laid the body in his own grave. And they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!” 31 And after he had buried him, he said to his sons, “When I die, bury me in the grave in which the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones. 32 For the saying that he called out by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel and against all the houses of the high places that are in the cities of Samaria shall surely come to pass.”

33 After this thing Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, but made priests for the high places again from among all the people. Any who would, he ordained to be priests of the high places. 34 And this thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, so as to cut it off and to destroy it from the face of the earth.

Double dose of Leftist insanity:

  1. California closes beaches even though outdoors and sunshine are very non-conducive to virus transmission and social distancing is easy even on “crowded” beaches.
  2. New York subways are extremely crowded, poorly ventilated and filthy – in other words, the worst-case scenario for virus transmission–  but New York must keep them open, despite being a center of the pandemic.  It took them a long time just to close them at night for cleaning.  What incompetence!  It isn’t a secret that NYC has a wildly disproportionate infection rate.  It is obviously Trump’s fault.  And racism.

New York Times calls for DNC investigation into Biden sexual assault claims – Uh, didn’t this paragon of journalism do an investigation already and publish a scripted “nothing to see here, folks” response?  And even that was sanitized by the Biden team.

Side note: The bigger issue here is the media and Democrat hypocrisy with this compared to Kavanaugh.  But note that Biden doesn’t call her a liar.  Wouldn’t you if you were falsely accused?

That POTUS of course is Barack Obama. And, I will take Lisa Page at her word. It’s an off the cuff communication with her paramour. She’s excited. She’s getting the Director prepped.

They’re saying ‘Did they die from COVID?’” Erickson said. “We’ve been to hundreds of autopsies. You don’t talk about one thing, you talk about comorbidities. The video normal people have been waiting for: Thanks, celebrities — I hope that one of the good byproducts of the pandemic is that people scale back the worship of celebrities and athletes.

A lot of celebrities seem to imagine (see what I did there) that we want them to shoehorn themselves into this crisis to offer advice or entertainment. But when people are dealing with the loss of jobs, a death in the family, etc. it comes off looking really out of touch. There’s a combination of navel gazing and not-so-subtle humble-bragging about their fabulous wealth and fabulous friends in many of these clips which ought to embarrass them. But somehow it doesn’t.

Overall, you get the sense that for a lot of these people the most important thing is that we not forget about them. No, it’s worse than that. They not only want to be remembered, they want to be important and applauded no matter what else is going on in the world. It’s pretty repulsive.

Good for him, using actual facts and logic.  Paying people who haven’t lost jobs was stupid (as was making it more profitable to be unemployed than to be employed).  The virus is less lethal than thought.  There is no reason to shut down the country and hand out our grandchildren’s money.

Too Many Women Today Want a Marriage Where The Man Makes Commitments While They Promise Nothing — Yep. Things have changed.  I can see why men are much more skeptical about marriage.

But women today reject the idea that they should be bound by any of the traditional promises for women. She expects him to do half the housework. The idea that she should give him sex if she doesn’t feel like it is considered equivalent to rape. She can’t be expected to support his career: she has her own. And of course, if she decides that the relationship no longer meets her needs, she can leave at any time for any reason or no reason. And he is then obligated to pay alimony and child support.

Marriage today is still a huge commitment for a man. Almost as much as it ever was. But it is pretty much zero commitment for a woman. She promises nothing.

CNN finally covers Larry King clip in which Biden accuser’s mother purportedly alludes to daughter’s sexual assault — There are countless reasons that CNN is nothing but shameless Leftist hackery, but this is a hall-of-fame reason: 700 stories about Kavanaugh within the first few weeks of the story breaking and 1 on Reade.  And even many Leftists concede that Reade’s case is far superior to Ford’s.

Lesson learned: Trump said that women would let you touch them if you are rich and famous.  Clinton and Biden showed that if you are a Democrat you can touch them against their will.

More here: CNN slammed for treatment of Biden sexual assault allegations after old Larry King clip surfaces — Such hypocrisy and duplicitous behavior from the Democrat-owned media.

The resurfaced CNN clip from 1993 appeared to show Reade’s mother alluding to “problems” her daughter faced while working as a staffer for the then-Delaware senator. Reade later told Fox News it was indeed the voice of her mother on the clip. Biden’s presidential campaign has adamantly denied Reade’s allegations but the video could be cited as evidence supporting Reade’s allegation – even though her late mother, in the clip, does not specifically refer to a sexual assault claim.

CNN did not immediately respond to a series of questions, including whether the network knew the footage existed.

“Larry King may have had the biggest scoop of his CNN career this evening … And it’s an open question whether his former employer will say a word about it,” New York Post reporter Jon Levine tweeted.

And from another article on the topic, fancy this:

The National Organization for Women (NOW) also did not respond to comments from Fox News. The offices of Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., former 2020 hopefuls who have been floated as possible VP picks for Biden, did not respond to requests for comment about the latest development.

Other names floated as possible running mates also did not immediately respond to requests for comment, including: Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H.; Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H.; New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham; Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev.; Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill.; Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz.; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y.; Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.

Normally it isn’t safe getting between those ghouls and a microphone, but now they are silent?  What hypocrites!

And then there are the shrill, hypocritical harpies from The View‘The View’ ignores Tara Reade’s Biden allegations after championing Kavanaugh accusers.  They went off 24×7 in the most ridiculous ways on the spurious Kavanaugh claims, but are silent on Reade.  Same for Pelosi, Shumer, et al.  Go figure.

And note that Biden’s denial immediately segues to the pro-woman legislation he has advanced and pretends he doesn’t have a well-documented track record of inappropriate touching.  They know they can’t say, “He’s never done anything like that before!”, so they switch the category.

He did not return multiple requests for comment from the Washington Free Beacon and declined to answer questions about the contract, which would have tasked him with collecting sensitive health data, from the Washington Post and Crain’s Detroit.

My favorite Bible reading / prayer / memorization routine

There is nothing like reading a chapter of the Bible in the morning and a chapter at night, along with some study notes.  I did that the first time I read through the Bible back in 1996 and it was life-changing.  Hey, God’s word does what it promises.  Who knew?

While I’ve never stopped reading completely, I’ve had different patterns over the years, usually just once a day.  But late last year I started back with the twice a day routine and I don’t think I’ll ever stop.  It is just the perfect set of bookends for the day.

I don’t try to get through the entire Bible in a year.  Nothing wrong with that, of course.  I’ve done it before, and even listened to it over just a few months when I’d play it in the car regularly.  The pace I’m on now is a “read the Bible in 20 months” plan.

I’ve always loved the chronological approach, but I do like a mix of Old and New Testament as well.  But I think my favorite will be this plan I came across in Logos, where you cycle through 7 different books.  Currently I’m going through a few chapters each of Genesis, Ruth, Psalms, Job, Isaiah, Matthew and 1 Corinthians.  It is a great mix, where every day or two I’m reading from a different book.

For prayer, I made a personal translation of the Valley of Vision Puritan prayers, where I converted them from old English poetry form to contemporary prose.  I read one a day. (I wish I could get it published, as it is so much more accessible than the original, but the copyright owners didn’t even respond to my request.)

I also just started using the PrayerMate prayer app, which is an easy way to keep track of various prayer categories.

Finally, I love the Bible Memory app.  I cycle through a batch of verses at least once a day, sometimes more often.  When I come across a new verse or passage I add it to the list.  Whenever I am bored or distracted I am inclined to reach for my phone to do something.  But having taken off social media apps, I now go to the Bible Memory app and do a few verses instead.  Aside from being a great part of your devotional time, it is helpful if you are out waiting for something like an oil change or whatever.  It really redeems the time.

And while I am not good at memorizing, this app has helped me memorize so many more verses, passages and even whole chapters than I ever thought possible.  My challenge is not to just go through them and not think about them.  For example, I’ve gone through Jude so many times that I can recite it without thinking about it, so I need to challenge myself to slow down and meditate on what it says.

So that’s it.  Morning: Prayer, then reading a chapter of the Bible and the accompanying study notes, then some memory verses.  Evening: Another chapter.  And perhaps more memory verses at breaks during the day.

I love this routine and its results.  Your mileage may vary.

Some people are busier than ever during this pandemic, but others have lots of time on their hands.  For the latter, this is a great time to establish good habits in this area.  If you can’t do it now, when will you?

And remember that even if you are very busy, you can listen to the word of God on audio – for free!  Redeem your commute!  Each chapter is only about 4 minutes, so you’ll be surprised at how much ground you can cover.  Of course you can’t look at study notes and such, but the word of God is what really matters.  And if you get distracted there is always the rewind button.

And if you still say you don’t have time, ask yourself how much entertainment you consume each day, and why God designed the world in such a way that you never have time for his daily bread.

Be blessed!

New York Gov. John Ekdahl has been on a helluva tear on Twitter. He wonders why it is that the New York-based media is scolding Floridians for visiting the beaches in small numbers, but yet all of New York City’s parks remain open. He wonders why people are being told they can’t drive but New York City’s subway system remains open, each car a contained petri dish. (And note — they only gave out the order to wear a mask on the subway a few days ago!)And I’ll point this one out: The same people saying that protests are non-essential are the same people who said it would violate the Constitution to quarantine people from the New York City area to the New York City area. Andrew Cuomo, hero of the fascist lockdown lobby, threatened to provoke a Constitutional crisis if Trump sought to limit New Yorkers’ holy right to export the plague to other states. Why is it the Ruling Class is busy demanding lockdowns for others while accepting no restrictions at all for themselves?
