Is forgiveness possible?

ER

The video below is fictional, of course, but the premise occurs countless times every day around the world: People need and want forgiveness, but the world tells them lies.

Christianity has the truth and the Good News, but far too many people claiming the name of Christ are unequipped and/or unwilling to share it, even when asked.  If that applies to you, then do something about it.  Right away!  I recommend Tactics by Greg Koukl as a great way to learn how to share your faith as an effective ambassador and apologist for Christ, just as the scriptures command.

2 Corinthians 5:20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
1 Peter 3:15–16 (ESV) but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

It was surprising but so encouraging to see that the clip below was on the TV show ER a couple years back.

The chaplain is the classic fake Christian you’d expect to find in most theologically liberal churches today.  I love how the patient doesn’t buy her “just make up a god in your own image” type of platitudes.

The money quotes from the dying patient:

All I’m hearing is some new age “God is love” one-size-fits-all crap . . . I don’t have time for this now . . . I want a real chaplain who believes in a real God and a real Hell . . . I don’t need to “ask myself,” I need answers, and all your questions and uncertainty are only making things worse . . .

I need someone who will look me in the eye and tell me how to find forgiveness, because I am running out of time!

Hey Christians, time to fire up!  Some people don’t want the truth.  But there are lots of real people like this in the world who need and want the truth.  They must be so sick of the lies and the politically correct “God is whoever you want him to be” nonsense taught by the world and by far too many churches.  Is it really so hard to understand that you do not get to tell the creator of the universe how eternity works?  You don’t set the terms and conditions of salvation any more than you get to tell your boss to triple your pay and give you 50 weeks of vacation, or tell your teacher that he must give you an A without you coming to class.

Are you ready to tell people the truth and the Good News?  Forgiveness, redemption and eternal life are possible, but only through trust in Jesus.

“Christian” Left post-election meltdown: Pass the popcorn.

Note: I’ll continue to update this at the bottom.  Their “Oh, the humanity” hypocrisy and drama won’t end soon.  Is it a sin to be intoxicated from drinking “Christian” Leftist tears?  Because they are truly schadenfreudelicious!

It couldn’t happen to a bunch of more ravenous wolves.  The “Christian” Leftists are really over the top after Trump’s win.  While even Hillary was able to be a good loser in her speech (although that may have just been a “Please don’t put me in jail, Donald!” message) and Obama has thus far been gracious to Trump because of how Bush was so gracious to Obama, those are far better than the reactions of the rest of the “Christian” Left.

They’re going to reverse and erase everything President Obama did. They don’t even try to keep it a secret.

No kidding! I can’t believe they actually typed that. Obama and the media repeatedly lied about Obamacare and more, used the IRS to punish his enemies, tried to destroy the military, expanded perversions 24×7 and more. Yes, we’ll want to reverse and erase that.

Donald Trump’s win tells people of color they aren’t welcome in America

Nope. Hateful, racist comments like that are what helped Trump win. Why did so many people, including Democrats, vote for Trump? Because the Left said that no matter what they did they were evil racists. Nice move, champs.  I didn’t vote for Trump or Hillary, but the “Christian” Left made me want to vote for Trump.

And the Left’s unhinged hatred for all things conservative came back to bite them.  Even a mild-mannered centrist like President Bush had to be denounced as Hitler, etc. and blamed for every ill in the country (most caused by the Left, like the housing bubble).  Eventually people were immunized to the hyperbole.  Their shrill hatred of Trump just bounced off people.

a

Can someone please explain how and why we’re supposed to polite and supportive about the fact that 20,000,000 people are going to be kicked off of health insurance, including members of the TCL admin team?

Yes, I can: There is nothing in the Constitution or the Bible saying that you get to have the government — at the point of a gun — take money from your neighbor to give to you.   Where is their compassion for all those getting bankrupted by the outrageous costs of Obamacare?  Oh, right, they don’t care about others, just themselves.  Check.  We’ve got lots of great ideas about making health care more affordable, but the Democrats did Obamacare all on their own.  Oh, and we donate our own money to help people.

Has there ever been a time when a presidential election result struck fear into the hearts of millions of children? How could Trump voters be this cruel?

Wow.  Those Molech-worshiping ghouls couldn’t be more tone-deaf.  First, it was their shrill media striking fear into the kids.  Trump just said he wanted to protect our borders, as any sane country would.  And never forget that the “Christian” Left loudly and proudly insists that you can not only kill your children up to their first breath for any reason, but that your neighbors should have to pay for it.  And then they pretend to care about children?!  Another 3,500 children got crushed and dismembered today, without anesthetic, because of the compassionate, loving “Christian” Left.

One of their posts was a video from serial liar and false teacher Chuck “Jesus is not the only way but He sure is a bigot” Currie.  His first fear-mongering point was that women may no longer be able to kill their unwanted children up to their first breath.  To the “Christian” Left, that’s terrible.  He blasphemously said that Jesus agrees with him!  And of course he conflated legal and illegal immigration.  And he got preachy about Trump’s issues while ignoring how Currie himself has always bragged about taking his young daughters to gay pride parades.

They also denied that Trump has a mandate, even though Obama & the Leftists went from owning the Presidency, House and Senate to losing them all.

Then they plugged a “prayer to heal the nation” that includes a laundry list of false teachers as well as Muslims (because the “Christian” Left and Muslims both pray to the same god — i.e., the god of this world).

That’s why Christians are so different from the “Christian” Left.  Our beliefs about Jesus, the Bible, etc. drive our thinking and behavior.  Some Christians couldn’t vote for Trump out of conscience, and some did to avoid a much greater evil in Hillary. But the “Christian” Left wanted Hillary and Bernie because of their evils: Unrestricted, taxpayer-funded abortions, forced wealth redistribution, pushing every kind of sexual perversion, eliminating free speech, eliminating the ability to defend oneself, and so much more.  They thought her felonies were no big deal.

If they want to vent, they should direct it at their beloved Leftist media and the DNC, who worked overtime to give us Donald Trump.  But their creation was too powerful and turned on them.

And of course the “Christian” Left used the election loss to beg for money for their site. Apparently it costs lots of money to promote abortion, sexual perversions and heresies on Facebook.  Maybe if they abandoned those evils and contributed to society then they’d have more money and could help their neighbors.

It was surreal to go back to their site, as I hadn’t visited in a very long time.  Such a contrast to the authentic Christian pages I saw, where people would critique Hillary and Trump but always trust in the sovereignty of God and the real Gospel.  But the “Christian” Left quivers as those who have no real hope.  They are lost, and they somehow manage to be wolves and snowflakes at the same time.  Matthew 7:15–16 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

May God grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will (2 Tim. 2).

Updates!

Human suffering on a massive scale will soon commence and the corporate media will ignore it. To add to the massive suffering most economists say Trump’s economic policies will crash the economy.

Yep.  Dogs and cats, living together, etc. will happen if, say, you appoint judges to the Supreme Court who think decisions should be based on the Constitution, if you prevent elected officials from immediately becoming lobbyists when they leave office, etc.  Most of what Trump wants are things that Bernie Sanders would say.

Anyone on this page who thinks the Donald Trump Presidency is “God’s will” please leave the page now. Most people who say that are full on hypocrites anyway. They apply Romans 13 to Republican politicians only and dismiss it completely when Democrats are elected.

The only way this is “God’s will” is if God is allowing the tribulation to begin. Conservative ideology is the opposite of God’s will. All it produces is human suffering except for the rich and the Military Industrial Complex. It’s dog eat dog, the strongest shall prevail, crush the least of these social Darwinism. It is the opposite of every single thing Jesus taught.

They are so thin-skinned that they ban anyone who thinks it is wrong to kill children up their first breath and to force others to pay for it.  And they don’t understand our views. Countless Christians I know have said that either Trump or Clinton would be God’s will and his judgment on us.  And their social Darwinism comment is priceless.  They literally preach about Darwin in their “Christian” Left churches on “Darwin Day” and mock those who deny it.  Then they pull up the drawbridge when we point out that social Darwinism would necessarily follow from their worldview.  And these pro-abortion ghouls live out their social Darwinism daily!  Trump was a moral freak for mocking the handicapped guy, but the “Christian” Left would have supported that guy being killed in the womb for his disability.

This is the kind of thing that the race-baiting Left — including the “Christian” Left — fosters daily:

The white guy was obviously racist for voting for Trump, and the “Christian” Left fights aggressively to ensure that the victims can’t protect themselves with guns.  Because love.

a

The “Christian” Left is now pretending to care for the white working class, even though they cheered as Obama & Co. kept their promise to bankrupt the coal industry and ignored how Obama has done nothing for low-income blacks except try to force whites to pay for their abortions (to kill more blacks!) and to import millions of illegals to take the jobs and suppress the wages of low-income blacks.

They pretend to care about Trump’s Russia connections — you know, the ones that conservatives have expressed concern about for a long time — but they didn’t care how Hillary literally sold out U.S. interests for profit.

As you’d expect, these perverts think that men should be able to go in the bathroom with girls, so of course that means to oppose it is being anti-LGBTQX.  The “Christian” Left mocks Jesus at every turn.

It is also helpful to note what the “Christian” Left is not celebrating, as it highlights how cynical and hypocritical they are.  Did they note that Tim Scott was elected to a full term in South Carolina?  Nope, doesn’t fit into their evil race-baiting meme.  Did they note that Trump’s campaign manager was the first female in that role — and that the evil Trump picked her?!  Nope, doesn’t fit into their misogyny meme.

slide1

See how “Christian” Leftist Tim Kaine completely mangles the Bible, missing the point about God’s grace and acting like Hillary is God.  Really glad he won’t be VP.

And now they are whining about the electoral college, as if they just discovered how that works.

a

“Christian” Leftists like false teacher Chuck “Jesus is not the only way but He sure is a bigot” Currie and Jim “the Gospel is all about wealth redistribution” Wallis are mainly disappointed that they’ll lose their perks of being tools for the Obama administration.  Wallis is a race-baiter at his core.

We’re hoping Bernie Sanders filibusters the repeal of the ACA in the Senate, and any other extreme policy the Republicans try to foist on us. It’s our only hope for the next two years.

Bernie is too busy furnishing his 3rd house to filibuster anything.  Because Socialism.  And climate change.  And hypocrisy.  And gullible “Christian” Leftists who gave him money.

Gee, why would the average American consider voting for Trump instead of a Democrat?

a

Friendly reminder: Don’t spend too much time commenting at their Facebook page.  They are snowflakes who can’t stand anything resembling dissent.  Even “Christian” Leftists get blocked if they note how over-the-top the site owners are.

The only thing sweeter than the tears of celebrities for Clinton is that of “Christian” Leftists.  First their non-Christian hero Bernie got shafted by their favorite political party, then “Christian” Leftist Hillary lost.

The “Christian” Left is too dishonest or too busy playing the race card to note that Trump did better with minorities than Romney — and that’s after another 4 years of shameless 24×7 Leftist race-baiting!

They don’t know or don’t care that Hillary said things like this:

The “Christian” Left doesn’t care about the truth.  Via Being a Liberal Means Being a Hypocrite 2:

I am seeing a lot of people posting about how they didn’t know so many of their friends hated the LGBT community, Muslims, and women by voting Trump.
But, THIS is the kind of willful ignorance that has our country in the current mess that she’s in.
Trump defeated a woman who is funded by countries who literally murder the LGBT community for simply being LGBT and women for not toeing the line of sharia law.
He defeated a woman who has been accused of silencing sexual assaultand rape victims and/or covering up the crimes.
He defeated a woman who is on a recording, cackling over the fact that she got a child rapist a light sentence.
He defeated a woman who took money that was supposed to help devastated Haitians and paid for her daughter’s wedding.
I could go on.
If you want to support Clinton, that’s fine, but you need to own it and you need to see her for what she is, which is nothing more than a corrupt, nasty, power-hungry criminal who was out for no one but herself.

Note how racist Trump is with the hiring of his transition team head!

Look at this Leftist logic:

Bernie Sanders summarized his views succinctly and we agree. “To the degree that Mr. Trump is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families in this country, I and other progressives are prepared to work with him. To the degree that he isn’t we will vigorously oppose him.” (Paraphrase)

Here’s my paraphrase: If we agree with you, we’ll agree with you, but if we don’t we’ll fight.  Sheesh. I don’t object to their sentiment, just the idea that his statement meant anything.

This is what the “Christian” Left fosters.  Because “love wins,” right?

a

Final thought: The Left has actively opposed the 1st Amendment for years, trying to shut down Christian and conservative thought by calling it “hate speech.”  Will they re-think that precious Amendment when Trump tries to control the press?  These folks are as bad as the Republicans when they get in power.  They can’t think 15 minutes into the future so they forget that the exceptions they make could haunt them later.  Welcome to the world you created, Leftists. Without the “Christian” Left extremist abortion and sexual perversion agendas Trump would never have been elected.

This clip never gets old: “I want a real chaplain who believes in a real God and a real hell.”

The Domain for Truth

In our age where everything is all washed with relativism I thought this clip from the TV show “E.R” was really illuminating that all the figment of imagination means nothing in light of one’s sin, guilt and death.

Watch it:

For those of you guys reading this and are in the ministry, what we are doing is important folks.  We’re playing for keeps.  Don’t forget we have the Gospel, the hope of forgiveness!

Don’t ever, ever compromise with the Gospel.

Move over, Boston Tea Party. Transanity is forcing a North Carolina Toilet Party.

Our pathological liar of a President (“If you like your doctor . . .”) doesn’t have time to fight ISIS.  Or keep illegal aliens out of the country, even though it take the jobs and wages of minorities.  Or to reduce the deficit.  And so on.

But he does have time to force his perverted LGBTQX agenda on everyone in the country, including children.  Via Obama Administration forces transgender bathroom rules on every school in America

It appears Obama’s Education Department is using this decision as a rationale to mandate every school in America to accommodate any child whose gender identity might not sync with their actual gender.

Whether the administration chooses to mandate a bathroom/locker room free-for-all by utilizing Title IX, which was written in 1972, or the 1964 Civil Rights Act (as they did earlier this week in their lawsuit against the state of North Carolina) they’ll be hard pressed to find any contemporaneous notes by congressmen and senators who crafted those historic laws which reveal that they were trying to protect against not just sexual discrimination, but transgender discrimination as well.

Regardless of how this gets worked out in the courts, every parent in America will wake up this morning having to deal with an issue they probably never thought they’d have to face several years ago. Parents now have to decide how they will deal with the reality that their child will not enjoy a basic level of privacy when they use a restroom or locker room when they go to school. Will this bring about a rise in private school attendance? Will it inspire more parents to home school their children?  Will states flirt with the idea of refusing federal education funds?

As Stand to Reason asked, what is your tipping point for taking your kids out of public schools?  What will it take for us to protect them?

What will it take for us not to let the Federal government take our money, siphon off a huge chunk for their corrupt bureaucracy and then hold it hostage unless we give in to their perverted demands?

It is hard to believe that we are talking about bathroom laws, but here we are.  This isn’t just their ideological differences about a tiny subset of the population, this is about them forcing you to say and do things you know are horribly wrong.

This is all brought to you by Leftists, including the “Christian” Left.  And keep in mind that Trump opposed the NC bathroom law.  It is unfortunate that not enough people voted for Ted Cruz, which left us with three perverted Socialists to (not) choose from.

We are getting what we deserve.

trans laws

Transanity truisms:

  • All agree that something is wrong with “trans” people. Normal people say the mind is wrong, Leftists say it is the body.
  • If Bruce Jenner really is a woman, then Karen Carpenter really was fat.
  • Leftist pervert logic: Girls wanting bathrooms with just girls are haters, but boys who only want bathrooms with girls must be accommodated.

Mark 8:38 should concern those who call Jesus a bigot and more

The “Christian” Left routinely calls people bigots who refuse to violate their consciences and religious beliefs by participating in “same-sex weddings.”  They mock Bible-believing [Read: authentic] Christians as being anti-science, haters, anti-women, etc.

But note how Jesus defeats Darwinian evolution, oxymoronic “same-sex marriage” and same-sex parenting arguments in one simple passage. No true follower of him should disagree on any of those topics.

Matthew 19:4–5 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?”

Jesus is still asking them that question today, and the answer from the “Christian” Left is, “No, we haven’t read that” — or, rather, “We read that but didn’t like it so we ‘know’ you didn’t really say that.”

If they really cared about what Jesus said then this would scare them to death:

Mark 8:38 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

They are ashamed of the real Jesus, but they aren’t scared because they don’t really listen to anything He says.  They just find a few spots where He appears to agree with them, then they pretend that they are the “real” church.  I suppose it would be too much work if they were honest and just started their own religion.

I hope they repent and believe before it is too late.  They can lie to themselves but they won’t convince Jesus.

A great way to memorize Bible verses

If you want to memorize Bible verses I highly recommend Scripture Typer.  The online version is free and the App is inexpensive.  You pick the verses you want, then you can practice typing over them, filling in every other word or typing them from memory.  I recently memorized the Book of Jude (An entire book of the Bible!  OK, it only has 25 verses, but still . . . ).  I had done the first half on my own and the end with Scripture Typer.  I wish I had used the tool the whole time!

Just start small and pick a few verses.  You’ll pick up momentum and confidence, and you’ll be surprised how often God gives you opportunities to use the verses you’ve memorized, either reminding yourself of them or sharing his truth with others.

Rob Bell, Andy Stanley, Terri and Sherri from The Simpsons, and perfect timing

I’m running this again in (dis)honor of Andy Stanley caving to the LGBTQX agenda right when it profited him the most.  Via Megachurch pastor rejects his father’s bigotry: Jesus would want you to bake a gay wedding cake:

There is not consensus in this room when it comes to same-sex attraction; there is not consensus in this room when it comes to gay marriage.

Those are the weasel words of a wimpy and/or false teacher who will go full pro-LGBTQX in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .

Gee, just because one group disagrees with something we can’t know the truth? Even Stanley doesn’t use that standard in any of his other quotes.

If you really love people you will tell them the truth. The Bible couldn’t be more clear. Bible-believing Christians and even two out of the three types of pro-gay people* (religious or not) can see these truths:

  • 100% of the verses addressing homosexual behavior describe it as sin in the clearest and strongest possible terms.
  • 100% of the verses referring to God’s ideal for marriage involve one man and one woman.
  • 100% of the verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).
  • 0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions of any kind. There are no exceptions for “committed” relationships.
  • 0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to LGBT couples parenting children.

Having said that, I believe that Christians should support and encourage those who are fighting same-sex attraction. And no one needs to grandstand on the issue before getting to the Good News of the cross.

Here are some more weasel words from Stanley. Yes, people claiming the name of Christ should do less of those things, but isn’t it convenient when he throws all Christians under the bus to curry favor with the LGBTQX extremists?

If all the Christians for just one year, would quit looking at porn, would quit smoking weed, would quit having premarital sex, would quit committing adultery, would pay their taxes, and every church just foster one kid — in one year our nation would feel different. . .

Yeah, and if all the false teachers shut up for a year it would feel different as well.

It is illuminating how the non-Christians commenting there agree with Stanley. Go figure. Churchgoers who support “same-sex marriage” have nearly identical views to the world. It shows who their real father is.

1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.

Jude 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Finally, as Erick Erickson pointed out, note in the article how Andy’s father’s church had to be protected from the LGBTQX people and not the other way around.

simpsons-terri-sherri.jpgIn a move that should have surprised no one, Rob Bell has come out in favor of “same-sex marriage.”  It reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons where the twins Terri and Sherri are speaking to Lisa:

Isn’t it amazing that the same day you got a pool is the same day we realized we liked you?  The timing works out great, don’t you think?

For Rob Bell and other people bailing on biblical truths, it goes like this:

Isn’t it amazing that the same day God told me that he changed his rules on marriage it made me more popular?  The timing works out great, don’t you think?

The link has the video of him explaining his “new” views (Poison Control recommends watching it if you are out of Syrup of Ipecac) where he not-so-subtly undermined the word of God and said how we need to get with the world’s changes, because God is doing something new blah blah blah.  He says we should work on the “real” problems, as if the problem of saving people from sin isn’t real.

Once again someone who mocks what God said in his word wants us to believe that God is telling him all his new ideas and changes.  Right.  I hope that all the youth groups that showed his videos are repenting.

Here’s a graph I made for Rob (the inspiration came from the World’s Best Sunday School Teacher)::

The liberal “church” has changed in the same ways culture has: Pro-legalized abortion, anti-parental notification laws, pro-gay marriage, pro-handing out condoms to kids, etc.

Think about this: Non-believers created the anti-abortion Hippocratic Oath and it took Satan 2,500 years to convince pagans to discard it.  Then it took another 15 minutes for theological Liberals to go pro-abortion.

Isn’t it amazing?  What great timing!  The liberal church realized it had been wrong on these important topics for nearly two thousand years, and came to that conclusion at virtually the same time as the secular culture.  That makes the world like them more, I suppose.

They also decided it was too embarrassing to believe in miracles, the authority of scripture, the exclusivity of Jesus, etc.  Or did that come first?

Thankfully, many churches in the West aren’t buying it and most of the churches outside the West aren’t either.  The first time I was in Kenya one of the full-time missionaries, a doctor from England, kept saying how the Kenyans were really disappointed in the U.S. when they heard about churches supporting gay “marriages.”   It wasn’t like they were thinking, “Gee, those brilliant Westerners know everything, perhaps we should follow them.”  It was more like, “Whoa, what are they thinking?!”

* The three general types of pro-gay theology people:

1. “The Bible says homosexuality is wrong but it isn’t the word of God.” (Obviously non-Christians)

2. “The Bible says it is wrong but God changed his mind and is only telling the theological Left.” (Only about 10 things wrong with that.)

3. “The Bible is the word of God but you are just misunderstanding it” (Uh, no, not really.)

The importance of sound doctrine

One of the ways the “Christian” Left tips you off to their false nature is how they dismiss the importance of sound doctrine.

First, for clarity:

A man is not to be judged a heretic for speaking or writing an error – we all fall into this group.  A heretic is one who continues in teaching falsehoods that strike at the basics of Christian beliefs.  Stuart Brogden

But many people downplay the importance of doctrine, saying such things as, “All the theology I need is that God is love” or “I just want to follow Jesus.”  They have a false idea of what doctrine is.  It isn’t boring (at least it isn’t supposed to be).  How do you know how to follow Jesus, or why you should follow Jesus, if you don’t have doctrine?  Why on earth would you commit your life to someone without understanding Him or what He taught?

And yes, God is love, but that is just one of his attributes and not his complete definition.  And what kind of love does this mean – a sentimental, pampering love or the agape kind of love where you have the long term best interests of the other person at heart and would willingly sacrifice for them?

There are countless false teachers in our churches today, and they do great damage to individuals and the church.  We must know the truth well so we can spot them.  Here is a great article by Charles Spurgeon about false teachers.  Please read it.

Listed at the bottom of this post are just some of the verses pointing us to the importance of sound doctrine.  Jesus expected the Disciples to understand his teachings. Also, keep in mind that Jesus spent much of his time rebuking the Pharisees for their false teachings, and a major part of the New Testament letters was devoted to corrections of errors in the church.  If Jesus warned against false prophets doesn’t that imply that there are true prophets?

If anyone thinks these verses are taken out of context, please let me know.  Some of my theologically liberal blogging buddies implied as such, saying I had selected them in a “willy nilly” fashion.  However, they provided zero (0) examples.  Perhaps they could start with the first passage, which actually contains the phrase “sound doctrine.”  If I took something out of context it wouldn’t be the first or last time, but I am quite correctable and rarely make the same mistake twice.

One person mocked me for “actually believing that God cares for something called sound doctrine.”  His position is self-refuting and un-Biblical.  Sound doctrine is merely accurate theological teaching.  Given two choices of God either caring about sound doctrine or not caring, he chose the latter while I chose the former.  If God agrees with him, then he has properly taught God’s view.  But that would mean that God cares about the proper teaching of not caring about proper teaching, and that he seems to think it is important to convey sound doctrine on the point of sound doctrine not being important.  Indeed.  It would also mean that God had to communicate his lack of caring about sound doctrine.  Did He do that in the Bible (where?) or outside it?

Read a “few” verses – or the whole Bible, for that matter – and decide for yourself if God cares about sound doctrine.

Matthew 16:6 (ESV) — 6 Jesus said to them, “Watch and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Matthew 16:11–12 (ESV) — 11 How is it that you fail to understand that I did not speak about bread? Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

2 Timothy 4:2 (ESV) — 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

2 Timothy 4:3–4 (ESV) — 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 (ESV) — 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good.

Acts 17:11 (ESV) — 11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

2 John 9 (ESV) — 9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:1 (ESV) — 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Revelation 2:1–3 (ESV) — 1 “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: ‘The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 “ ‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary.

Jude 3–4 (ESV) — 3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Titus 1:9 (ESV) — 9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

Romans 16:17–19 (ESV) — 17 I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. 18 For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. 19 For your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil.

Acts 20:28–31 (ESV) — 28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. 29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.

2 Corinthians 11:2–4 (ESV) — 2 For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. 3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

2 Corinthians 11:12–15 (ESV) — 12 And what I am doing I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do. 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Titus 2:1 (ESV) — 1 But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.

2 Timothy 3:16–17 (ESV) — 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Matthew 7:15 (ESV) — 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Acts 13:6–11 (ESV) — 6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus. 7 He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the magician (for that is the meaning of his name) opposed them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 But Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 10 and said, “You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and unable to see the sun for a time.” Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand.

Jude (ESV) — 1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: 2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. 3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. 5 Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day— 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. 8 Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones. 9 But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.” 10 But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively. 11 Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion. 12 These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever. 14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, 15 to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 16 These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage. 17 But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” 19 It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh. 24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
