In Belgium, a perfectly healthy woman decided to legally commit suicide after her daughter and husband died. The widow, Simona De Moor, was 85-years-old and told theAustralian TV show Dateline that five minutes after her daughter passed away from a heart attack she decided to kill herself in assisted suicide. . . . Apparently, De Moor never considered assisted suicide before that moment but knew it was within reach because of Belgium’s liberal suicide laws. The Daily Mail reports that she died on June 22nd with Doctor Van Hoey, an infamous assisted suicide and euthanasia proponent in Belgium.
. . . What I struggled with most, was that despite being in near perfect physical health, Simona believed she had nothing and no one in her life worth living for.”
. . . De Moor’s death is a perfect example of why legalizing assisted suicide is dangerous. Although lawmakers who promote the practice say it would only be for terminally ill patients, it often leads to physically healthy depressed people killing themselves.
Of course, the “Christian” Left actively supports euthanasia. Amazingly, even false teacher Chuck “Jesus is not the only way but He sure is a bigot” Currie, whose own father killed himself, supports suicide. Normally I wouldn’t mention a tragedy like that, even about a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but when Currie wrote about it himself and still supported “physician assisted” suicide I changed my mind.
Their culture of death us demonic. But I suppose that these pro-abortion extremists* are fine with physician-assisted child-killing, so why not adults?
People need to start thinking 15 minutes into the future when considering issues like euthanasia. It is a very, very short trip from wanting to see people relieved of pain (however misguided the solution is) to putting enormous pressure on people to kill themselves “for the sake of others” or to use suicide as a legitimate option whenever they feel depressed.
*The “Christian” Left is far more extreme in their pro-abortion agenda than the average pro-choice person. They insist that life begins at the first breath and insist that Jesus is fine with killing unwanted children until that point. I realize how ridiculous their views sound and how many people must think I’m making a straw-man argument. But that is just because their own words are so clear and extreme: “According to the bible, a fetus is not a living person with a soul until after drawing its first breath.” More here about how to respond, with full, in-context quotes from them.
