Part of a comment thread from one of false teacher Mark “Jesus is not my God” Sandlin’s posts. It is creepy and sad how they trot out these horrible arguments and don’t even realize how fallacious and hypocritical they are.
“Again: It’s easy to focus so much on sins which you feel no personal temptation to commit. I bet you lie, though. Everyone does.”
That’s a pointless argument that has nothing to do with the post or my comments. Nice red herring.
“As for “God’s Ideal for marriage”: polygamists violate that ideal just as much as homosexuals, but I don’t see people like you going after polygamists with the self-righteous gusto that you show for condemning homosexuals. Ever.”
Yes, they do violate that, and we do oppose polygamy. We just don’t have them forcing children to be told how normal polygamy is, and we aren’t forced to participate in polygamous weddings, and people aren’t fired for stating that polygamy is wrong.
“I attended a private Christian school for Pre-K through 12th grade with daily Bible classes and weekly chapel services, hun. I’ve read it.”
Yes, lots of non-Christians went to Christian schools. That proves nothing.
“Your type always says the same stuff to anyone who disagrees with anything you say: “You need to actually read the Bible” and other variations of “My interpretation of Scripture and how to be a ~REAL~ Christian is the only correct one and if anyone says otherwise they’re not ~REAL~ Christians”, all with the same tone of self perceived religious superiority.”
You’ve yet to demonstrate that I’ve misinterpreted anything in the Bible. You just change the subject.
“What do you care about more? Being righteously correct, or leading oth ers to salvation? Based on your responses here, it appears to be the former.”
Haha. Another diversion. I love to tell others the good news. Here’s an example that proves your pathetic and desperate attack wrong: https://1eternitymatters.wordpress.com/2008/05/27/evangelism-experiences-1/
“It’s people like you who are chasing people away from Christ in record numbers yet you don’t seem to give a damn. You’re SO focused on telling others how wrong and sinful they are — and focusing on a handful of clobber verses in the case of homosexuality to do so — that you completely ignore the huge portions of the REST of Scripture that are all about the love and compassion of the Lord and the forgiveness of those sins you rail against.”
LOL. Yes, let’s say the opposite of what Jesus did so we can draw people to Jesus. Great idea!
I’m not telling the gays how wrong and sinful they are here. I’m telling Sandlin, you and the “Christian” Left how wrong and sinful they are for sitting in judgment of God and preaching the opposite of the truth.
Ooh – “clobber verses” – quoting your hero, Sandlin, just like a good minion. They are just verses which speak the truth. And only a handful? How many do you need before you obey God? It only mentions a couple times not to have sex with animals. Is that not enough for youi?
Who says I ignore the verses about love and compassion? You phony, you don’t even know what I do with my time and money. You are just a fake who has no real arguments so you resort to silly sound bite personal attacks. What love you show!
“How on earth are others supposed to know abou t the rest of Christianity when the only thing they ever hear is “YOU’RE AN ABOMINATION FOR LOVING THE WRONG PERSON AND MY GOD WILL CONDEMN YOU TO HELL FOR IT!” from self-righteous busybodies like you?”
Straw-man argument. That’s not what I say. And aren’t you being a hypocritically self-righteous busy body by wasting your time criticizing me instead of sharing your version of the Good News? You frauds don’t even realize how you contradict yourself in the same comment!
“You make Christianity sound just about as appealing as a root canal, for goodness’s sake! You don’t have to condone it, but keeping your nose out of their personal lives and talking about God’s love instead of God’s judgment of their sins will go a lot further to getting them to hear the real message of Christ. They need to be open to THAT before their sins can be absolved.”
Uh, why is your nose in my personal life telling me what to do?! Hypocrite! And you may have read the Bible but you don’t understand it at all. Go read the book of Acts and count the number of times they tell people how much God loves them in the 13 Gospel presentations. You may find that the message is “repent and believe.”
“Not to mention putting quotation marks around “Christian” when talking abou Christians who don’t agree with your every word (like ‘the “Christian” Left’) is just obnoxious. Unless you have the omniscienc e of God, you have no authority to say whether or not anyone other than yourself is a Christian. It drives me up a wall every time I see your type do that because of the arrogance it takes to make proclamations like that. If you’re off putting to other Christians then what the hell are you doing to NON Christians? Your contempt toward those you find religiously inferior to your own goodness is palpable.”
The “Christian” Left deserves the quotes. They teach the opposite of the real faith – https://1eternitymatters.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/opposites-3/ They are the equivalent of a bacon-eating, Jew-loving, Mohammad & Koran-dissing “Muslim.”
“I dare you to rail against liars as loudly as you do homosexuals. Both are listed as abominable sins, but lying is one of the Ten Commandments. Homosexuality is just easier to obsess about if you’re straight. No danger of committing that one yourself, is there?”
Lying is wrong. Mark Sandlin lies about Jesus all the time. It is wrong. Now please show me where Christians are being sued for not participating in the Left’s lying, or where schools are teaching little kids that lying is OK, or where churches are protested because they hold people accountable for lying, or where denominations are splitting because one side insists that the Bible says it is OK to lie, that lying is a gift from God, or where people are fired for saying that they don’t think lying is a good thing, etc.
Try to find some better illustrations, please! 🙂
“Unless you have the omniscience of God, you have no authority to say whether or not anyone other than yourself is a Christian.”
Actually scripture is quite clear that there will be false teachers and false “Christians” and it tells us how to recognize them.

Agreed Sunday School Teacher. As Jesus told us specifically:
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. -Jesus, Matthew 7.13-15
It’s still hard for me to believe that anyone who calls himself a Christian would not be interested in studying and doing what Jesus himself said. Sure we’re all fallen human beings. But this doesn’t mean that we can play fast and loose with the standard.
Glad to have found Eternity Matters.
