Roundup

A simple but profound reminder to Christians (that I heard from our pastor): Jesus loves you and He knows what He is doing.

Great reminders from Randy Alcorn (I think he wrote them).

1. There are only two eternal destinations—Heaven or Hell—and I and every person I know will go to one or the other.
2. This world (as it is now) is not my home and everything in it will burn, leaving behind only what’s eternal.
3. My choices and actions in this life have a direct influence on the world and the life to come.

4. My life is being examined by God, the Audience of One, and the only appraisal of my life that will ultimately matter is His.

5. God is sovereign, and I can trust that He is working all things—including the most difficult things—in my life together for good.

6. My ultimate home will be the New Earth, where I will see and enjoy God and serve Him as a resurrected being in a resurrected human society.

Q. Why do Leftists complain about jobs outsourced to other countries but want open borders so people can come here to take the jobs?

A. Votes.

I’m not doing a read-the-Bible-in-a-year plan, just another plan where I go at my own pace — usually a chapter in the morning and a chapter in the evening, plus reading the extensive study notes from The Bible Knowledge Commentary.  That will take a little over 1.5 years.

I love book-ending the day with Bible reading.  I also cycle through memory verses on the Bible Memory app, which takes some time (if I wait too long between cycles I start to forget things!).

The plan I’m using is under Logos and called the “52 week plan.” It cycles between genres each day – e.g., currently going through a few chapters of Genesis one day, then Joshua the next, then Psalms, Job, Isaiah, Matthew and Romans.  I love the variety.  I finished a chronological plan a month ago, and I really like that approach.

If you don’t have a plan, get one!  It doesn’t have to be a read-in-a-year thing.  Those are great, and I’ve done them, but I can start to get too check-box oriented and miss things.

Feminist mothers heartbroken and panicked as teen daughters demand to transition to male — Kudos to the Wall Street Journal for publishing the piece quoted at the link.  I encourage you to read it all.  One would hope that these Leftists would reconsider their overall views after being mugged by reality like this, but they generally seem to just go drink more salt water.  Hat tip: Danny

Nearly every force in society is aligned against these parents: Churches scramble to rewrite their liturgies for greater “inclusiveness.” Therapists and psychiatrists undermine parental authority with immediate affirmation of teens’ self-diagnoses. Campus counselors happily refer students to clinics that dispense hormones on the first visit. Laws against “conversion therapy,” which purports to cure homosexuality, are on the books in 14 states and the District of Columbia. These statutes also prohibit “efforts to change a patient’s . . . gender identity,” in the words of the New Jersey law—effectively threatening counselors who might otherwise dissuade teens from proceeding with hormone treatment or surgery.

Reddit, Tumblr, Instagram and YouTube host an endless supply of mentors, who cheerfully document their own physical transitions, omitting mention of dangerous side effects and offering tips on how to pass as a man and how to break away from unsupportive parents. For anxious teens who tend toward obsession, these videos can be mesmerizing. Though the stars are typically pictured alone in a bedroom, they project exuberance and social élan. As one female-to-male YouTube guru who goes by “Alex Bertie” puts it: “Taking testosterone is the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m so happy within myself. It did not solve all of my problems, but it’s given me the strength to make the most out of life and to battle my other demons like my social issues.”

Brie Jontry, a spokeswoman for Fourth Wave Now, an international support network for these families, is one of the two mothers who spoke on the record. She tells me ROGD teens often come from politically progressive families. Many of the mothers I spoke with say they enthusiastically supported same-sex marriage long before it was legal anywhere. Some of them describe welcoming the news when their daughters came out as lesbians. But when their daughters suddenly decided that they were actually men and started clamoring for hormones and surgery, the mothers begged them to reconsider, or at least slow down.

United Methodism Moves toward Separation — They’ve needed to separate the sheep and the goats for a long time. Wasting so much time fighting the pro-abort, pro-perversion, pro-coveting, anti-Gospel, anti-Bible Leftists has distracted people from the Great Commission.

Top Charismatic Leaders Disqualify Todd Bentley From Ministry for “Steady Pattern of Ungodly and Immoral Behavior” — Even a bunch of false teaching prosperity pimps can see that Bentley is awful – but they still left an opening for him to return to some sort of ministry!

Gun Control And Why Conservatives Will Lose, And Why They Always Lose — Great points about using words like “self protection.” We should all get in the habit of that.

Avoid the Hot Food Bar in Cities Run by Moonbats — Brought to you by the Left — including the “Christian” Left.

A drooling and pungent homeless man made double-dipping look like child’s play at a Midtown Whole Foods, grabbing from the hot food bar with his bare hands to stuff his bearded face — as employees just chuckled and said they were powerless to stop him.

A Post photo editor had just plunked down $17 for a jerk chicken dinner at the store across from Bryant Park on Sunday night when he spotted the grungy gourmand ignoring numerous “No Sampling” signs to treat the bar like his personal feed bag.

League of Legends’ First Woman Pro-Gamer Was a Guy — Because of course he was.  Remember that Leftists are some combination of ignorance, cowardice or malice — ignorance if they are stupid enough to believe you can change genders, cowardice if they know the truth and give in to peer pressure to pretend otherwise, and malice for pushing this on normal people and children.

Like literally all transsexuals, he had mental issues, which he described as “most notably anxiety and self-esteem issues.” He underwent a botched sex change operation that left him in extreme pain from nerve damage.

Armed churchgoer takes out shooter during deadly attack in Fort Worth, Texas — This was memory-holed by the media by the time I was able to paste the link.  Nothing to see here, folks, just lives being saved by people wisely arming themselves in self-defense.

Not the Babylon Bee

Trump policies, racism may cause some black women’s weight problems, professor says — I’m guessing that the obese woman and all those cheering her on weren’t skinny right up until Jan. 2017 . . . perhaps if they showed some authentic before and after photos they’d be more believable.  I’ll concede that there may be fewer quality grocery stores and such in neighborhoods like Ferguson, Missouri.  Any guesses as to why businesses wouldn’t want to invest there?

  1. What a crazy world. But I love this irony: “Feminist mothers heartbroken and panicked as teen daughters demand to transition to male”
