Leftist teachers getting mugged by reality

Public school teachers, who are mostly Leftists, are getting mugged by reality. Why? Because the Obama administration’s Department of Education required equal racial outcomes for student discipline.  Of course, student behavior is similar to criminal behavior in that it is much more dependent on home life (i.e., no solid male presence at home) than race.  Via School discipline issues reach fever pitch as districts fear the racial bean counters:

The bane of “racial proportionality,” which in many ways personified the Obama administration, continues to burden school districts across the country.

Over the last decade, school officials have loosened the “discipline grip,” so to speak, out of fear their schools’ racial percentages may not be viewed as “correct” by government bureaucrats.

Ironically, it’s that very reliable Democratic voting bloc — teachers — which have borne the brunt of this slackening, which no doubt explains why even they frowned upon the previous Department of Education’s race-based “discipline” measures.

Take a recent story from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania: City schools have lost almost four dozen teachers since July due to what they deem as “an unprecedented level of misbehavior among children” . . .

So whenever a student misbehaves the teachers must clairvoyantly know the racial discipline ratios to date for their school and/or district to know if they can punish the student.  And you can imagine how quickly the students will pick up on that.  If they know the minority quotas have been achieved then they can do almost anything without getting punished.

Maybe the teachers will reconsider their political views. The elites don’t care if teachers suffer as long as they prop up the charade that disparate outcomes are always driven by discrimination.

And what about the poor students who can be victimized at will by those who aren’t permitted to be punished?  Hopefully their parents will protect them by home schooling or at least protesting — and voting for true conservatives!

And this would be a good time to remind the elites of the one set of disparate outcomes that they ignore: Blacks are aborted at three times the rate of whites and Hispanics at twice the rate. Why not oppose abortion because of that?

This is one of the many reasons we should eliminate the Department of Education to save money and improve schools.  Polices like this are transparently ridiculous and, ironically, racist at their core.  Parents should know that if their children chronically misbehave then the rest of us are under no obligation to fund their education.

Update: A good list of questions for the teachers.  Despite their Helen Lovejoy impersonation (“Won’t somebody please think about the children?!”) it is obvious who they are really thinking about.

The teachers, says reader Tom, keep claiming that it’s all “for the kids” yet their actions here prove that the kids are last on the list as teachers worry more about safeguarding their unions, their high salaries and lucrative benefits.

So if the teachers care about the children, why are they:

  • With Schools Closed, special meals for kids have stopped. Aren’t leftists all worried about feeding poor kids? Do kids have to starve while teachers involve themselves in political rallies?
  • Many kids whose parents work will now be home alone while parents are at work. Why don’t these leftists care that kids are dangerously unsupervised?
  • Many low income families rely on after school programs to help their children. Now this help has been closed by the actions of leftist protestors.
  • Other families are now losing pay as they have working family members that are now staying home because their kids are not in school. This hurts families.
  • All the days that have been missed will now have to be made up at the end of the year and this will cost the schools even more to stay open more days. These extra days will also disrupt families.
  • Did the kids taken from schools to attend the protests last week have parental permission slips filled out? Why did the unions and teachers put the kids safety at risk just to benefit their own salary and benefits?
  • If teachers are claiming that they are all about service to the community, why don’t we just pay them what we pay our soldiers? They shouldn’t mind that, right?
  • If government is the solution to all America’s ills and the supporter of kids, how is it that teachers shutting down state government and Democrats running away to other states to hideout is helping fulfill that charge?

These are just Twitter feeds.  They don’t begin to capture the hatred from the rallies in Wisconsin.  This is what happens when people get entitlements: They get vicious when someone tries to take away even part of them.

Just like in Ohio, the irrationality and immaturity of the pro-union crowd is astounding.

Where is the “civility” crowd now?  Is this all Sarah Palin’s fault?  Why are Presidents Bush (41) and Clinton doing a civility gig in Arizona when those shootings had nothing to do with political discourse?

I don’t get too worked up about the Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays issue.  I do get irritated if Best Buy makes reference to a Muslim holiday but deliberately ignores Christmas.  If someone wants they can say “Happy HOLY Days.”  Or if someone greets you with Happy Holidays you can reply, “Yes, thanks, I do enjoy the holy day celebrating Christ’s birth.”  (I’m kidding — I don’t think being belligerent about it does much to advance the kingdom).

I have a Muslim employee.  I wish him happy holidays, and he wrote “Merry Christmas” on a present he gave me.  He knows who I worship.  I’d rather save up all my goodwill with him for our next talk about Jesus.

Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Tied to Lewd Readings for 7th Graders — a thorough summary on a very perverse man who is the opposite of safe for kids.  Go ask your friends if they’ve heard of Kevin Jennings.  Then ask them to read this and more about him and to wonder why the MSNBC, CNN and their local paper are ignoring him and the perverse GLSEN organizations infiltrating our schools?

And of course the GLSEN group does little for safety and lots for indoctrination.  Jennings wrote Queering Elementary Education: Advancing the Dialogue about Sexualities and Schooling, of which the title alone is enough to disqualify him from his current position.  Consider this from one of their events:

Using images from popular children’s media, we will transform these into a subversive coloring book, writing stories for the characters we always wanted to rebel against.  Because so much of children’s media does not include Transgender, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Queer, and Feminist characters and ideas, we will deliberately work to contradict this. Don’t miss the chance to make friends, cut-n-paste with a real live glue stick, and change the direction of children’s media. No artistic experience necessary.

Pew survey shows that evangelical Christian Republicans are the most rational — well, duh.  Seriously, Liberals and/or non-believers are twice as likely to believe in fortune tellers.  And this polls show how those who attend church regularly are much less likely to believe in astrology and reincarnation than those who aren’t as committed.

Mentors and accountability partners are very important in the life of a Christian — Do you have someone helping and guiding you and holding you accountable?  If not, get someone.

Teacher’s unions working to block accountability — Hey, maybe if they worked on being better teachers instead of fighting the obvious.
