The “theocracy” charge leveled at Republicans is just silly.

My observation is that the GOP field is more concerned with the social conservative determination to use government to deny equality to gays and lesbians and pregnancy choice rights to women.

However, neither of those issues threatens the economy or the republic.

I think the Left is correct in asserting that the social conservative agenda is identical to a promise to impose theocracy.

Did you ever notice how China, the former Soviet Union and other communist countries with explicitly atheistic views all recognize(d) the timeless truth that marriage, by definition, is a union of one man and one woman?  Implying that those who oppose government recognition of same-sex unions are trying to establish theocracies is ridiculous –unless you are claiming that atheistic, Christian-hating communists qualify as religious-right Christian extremists.

And are the anti-theocracy folks speaking out against Islam and Sharia law?  The evidence is there in Europe and even in some areas in the U.S.

Also, we don’t oppose “pregnancy choice.”  People have the right to birth control.  What we oppose is crushing and dismembering innocent human beings after pregnancy occurs.  Big difference.

A Ponzi scheme is a type of securities fraud where the promoter makes some sort of false or misleading statement about an investment (often including a guaranteed high rate of return) and pays off older investors with newer investor’s monies. Here’s a keeper for the next time Obama & Co. want to preach about civility.  The hypocrisy is astounding.  You’d think after their vicious, carefully choreographed blaming of Sarah Palin after the Arizona shootings that they’d at least pretend to follow their own advice for a while.

While Obama pretends that he’s interested in “respectful” political discourse we’ve seen a parade of Democrats indulging every manner of disrespectful political speech against Tea Partiers and Republicans. Just in the last few weeks we’ve the following:

  • Vice President Biden saying that Republicans and Tea Partiers are “barbarians.”
  • Teamsters President Hoffa Says Republicans are “sons a bitches” that should be “taken out.”
  • Democrat Andre Carson Says Tea Partiers and Republicans want to start “lynching African Americans.”
  • Democrat Maxine Waters says Tea Partiers can “go straight to hell.”
  • Vice President Biden calls conservatives “terrorists.”

Stan on biblical slavery — an important read:

It is important to note, as I have multiple times, that biblical slavery is not the same thing as modern slavery. Consider this. Modern slavery has basically been 1) involuntary 2) for the economic advantage of the elite, 3) typically included mistreatment, 4) where slaves lived separately from their owners, 5) were considered property (and could be disposed of as with any property), 6) could not own property, and 7) were slaves forever.

Old Testament slavery was different. It was 1) normally voluntary 2) for the purpose of solving a debt problem 3) with strict rules against mistreatment. Typically, 4) slaves lived in the homes of their masters, 5) were not property, 6) could own property and, in fact were given property when released, and 7) were only in the position temporarily. Old Testament slavery wasn’t very much at all like the modern version.

A great response to Bill Keller of the NY Times — He may be intelligent but he isn’t wise.  His analysis was horrible.  He also tips his hand in conceding the phony religiosity of people like Obama and Clinton.  After all, they claim the name of Christ as well.  But the Left doesn’t think they are really Christians so they don’t get upset about it.  But when Perry and Bachmann appear to really believe, then Keller and the other bigots freak out.

I’m all for breast cancer research, but here’s why I don’t donate to the Susan Komen Foundation: Komen 2010 donation to Planned Parenthood hits $569,000

When asked, Komen states that gifts to Planned Parenthood are justified because PP does mammograms. The black eye got even darker when it was revealed that PP actually does not do mammograms, but routine breast exams that a woman can do on herself.

The biggest problem with the PP donation is that a legitimate abortion-breast cancer link has been documented in studies. So, Komen gives funds raised to cure breast cancer to an organization that is increasing breast cancer risk as the nation’s largest abortion provider.

Hey Komen organization:  Call me when you stop supporting an organization that kills babies for a living.

Are you smarter than Rick Perry?  Here’s a test for the oh-so-smart class: Do you think there is a Social Security “trust fund” or “lockbox” where the contributions to date are stored?  If so, then Rick Perry is a lot smarter than you.  He knows that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme.  Anyone who tells you otherwise is ignorant or lying to you.  From the video at the link:

Homosexual students automatically eligible for scholarship: Elmhurst college — So how do they test for that?  Here’s a shocker: The college is associated with the apostate United Church of Christ.

In a recent statement, David Smith, executive director of the Illinois Family Institute, criticized the college’s comparison between sexual orientation and ethnic identity

“In defending their decision to include a question about ‘sexual orientation,’ by asserting an offensive and absurd comparison of race to a condition constituted by subjective desire and volitional sexual acts, Elmhurst College administrators reveal their own ignorance,” said Smith.
Elmhurst is affiliated with the liberal leaning United Church of Christ, which became the first denomination in the country with an openly gay minister when it ordained William Johnson in 1972.

Rep. Carson Accuses Tea Party Representatives in Congress of Wanting to Lynch Blacks — Subtle.  I think this is the guy who declared war on the Tea Party.  And we have Congresswoman Maxine Waters saying Tea Partiers should go to Hell.  Can’t you feel the love and tolerance?

So when race riots break out can we blame Carson and all the other race-baiters?  Shouldn’t the media be asking if the black-on-white flash mob attacks have been instigated by this inflammatory rhetoric?

Rep. Carson has a history of making unsupported accusations of racism at the Tea Party. You may recall that he is the Rep. who claimed to have been called the N-word “15 times” while passing through a group of Tea Party protesters on Capitol Hill. When video appeared that refuted part of his story (he wasn’t mobbed and received no police escort) he changed his story. No video supporting his N-word claim ever appeared.

Good news: Another Planned Parenthood manager quits and becomes pro-life

The next best thing to seeing someone convert to authentic Christianity: The new Abby Johnson?: Another Planned Parenthood manager quits and converts to pro-life (emphasis added).

In a press release from 40 Days for Life-Dallas, Ramona Trevino explains that although the particular Planned Parenthood where she worked did not perform surgical abortions, she was struggling “with [her] conscience . . . on contraception, abortion and [her] role in it all.”

Just like Abby Johnson, Trevino credits a 40 Days for Life campaign outside her Planned Parenthood facility with helping her movement towards a pro-life way of thinking.

After the 40 Days campaign came to Sherman, she says she went from believing she was providing a service to women in need, to realizing that Planned Parenthood “treated women like cattle and how they only cared about making money” – a realization she says was “long overdue.”

Don’t let people convince you that political efforts aren’t making a difference in the pro-life movement.  Even with the most pro-abortion President ever, great gains have been made.  See Planned Parenthood of Arizona to stop abortions at seven clinics for an example:

Last week an Arizona appeals court lifted an injunction against Arizona’s 2009 Abortion Consent Act. There are four major components to the Act:

1. The abortionist must be the one reading the state-approved informed consent script, not a surrogate, and it must be 24 hours before the abortion.

2. Only doctors can abort, not nurses or midwives.

3. Aborting minors must bring a notarized parental consent form. Parents can now sue if their rights are violated.

4. Not only doctors, but also hospitals, pharmacies, and all health care professionals can opt out of committing abortions or providing emergency contraceptives for moral reasons.

No surprise, it was Planned Parenthood Arizona that originally sued for the injunction.

These look like pretty obvious controls that even pro-choicers should agree with, but they tips their hands that they are really pro-abortion when they oppose them.  Only a pro-abort would oppose parents knowing when their kids were going to have a serious surgery to kill their grandchild.  Excuses like “but the kids might get beat up by the parents” are meaningless.  Using that logic, teachers couldn’t send home bad grades, police couldn’t arrest kids, etc.

Things you should know about Rick Perry

The Left is in full pants-wetting mode over Rick Perry joining the race, which shows just how afraid they are of him.  He should easily trounce Mitt Romney, the preferred candidate of the Leftist mainstream media.   Faux Christians play the pathetic “separation” and “hate” cards against him in their religion-disguised-as-politics charade, all the while ignoring people like Jim “the Gospel is all about wealth redistribution” Wallis who are meeting directly with Obama to peddle their false gospel.

Perry isn’t perfect, of course, but my understanding is that Jesus isn’t running in 2012.  Therefore, we need to pick the least-imperfect person.   There are a lot of Republican candidates I like, but I think Perry would be a fine choice.  I hope that when the Republican candidate beats Obama that he or she puts most of the rest of the field in high level cabinet spots.

I urge you to bookmark Seventeen (17) things that critics are saying about Rick Perry, where someone actually did some real research on all the claims being thrown at Perry.  I thought it was pretty unbiased and noted where Perry has made mistakes.  But even his mistake on Gardasil was overblown, and unlike most politicians — including our President — he admitted his mistake.

He is strongly pro-life, which is a huge plus.

Here is my favorite from the list, which uses real, live facts to show how Texas education is better across the board (whites and minorities) than the national average, way better than unionized states like Wisconsin and how Perry’s opponents are

6. Texas ranks poorly in educational spending and high school graduations

That statement is true. Texas does rank near the bottom of generalized rankings in spending per student and high school graduations, but as usual, those rankings alone are misleading. The statement is intended to imply that the state does a poor job of educating its students and therefore its Governor, Rick Perry is to blame. It’s just another two-for-one Texas/Perry smear.

With Perry as governor, how does education in Texas really compare with other states?

To see how Texas stacks up, we’ll compare Texas to Wisconsin. We chose Wisconsin because earlier this year, during their sit-ins and demonstrations, Wisconsin teachers compared their state’s (supposed) #2 ranking in ACT/SAT test scores directly to Texas (at #47). Their reason for comparing to Texas was that Wisconsin teachers are unionized while teacher unions are illegal in Texas. This direct comparison was intended to show the benefit of unionized teachers in educating our children.

However, those rankings were found to be: 1) obsolete, using 12-year-old data, and 2) used questionable methodology. The ranking was debunked by PolitiFact and the claim has since been removed from the union’s website, in other words, they stretched the facts to fit their agenda.

One facet that makes a Texas comparison to many other states is the racial makeup of the student population. Minority students – regardless of state – tend to score lower than white students on standardized tests, and the higher the proportion of minority students in a state the lower its overall test scores tend to be. Regardless of the reasons, the gap does exist, and it’s mathematical sophistry to compare the combined average test scores in a state like Wisconsin (4% black, 4% Hispanic) to a state like Texas (12% black, 30% Hispanic).

But let’s ignore that mismatch and compare them anyway – broken down by racial groups. We’ll compare some 2009 standardized test scores (the latest available) for 4th and 8th grade students in the areas of math, reading, and science. A pilot program for 12thgraders is being tested, but national comparisons are not yet possible for that grade. The data supporting the following rankings are found at the Nation’s Report Card website (link below the rankings).

To recap: white students in Texas perform better than white students in Wisconsin, black students in Texas perform better than black students in Wisconsin, and Hispanic students in Texas perform better than Hispanic students in Wisconsin. In 18 separate ethnicity-controlled comparisons, the only one where Wisconsin students performed better than their peers in Texas was 4th grade science for Hispanic students (statistically insignificant), and this was reversed by 8th grade.

Further, Texas students exceeded the national average for their ethnic cohorts in all 18 comparisons; Wisconsinites were below the national average in 8, above average in 8. That bears repeating: Texas fourth and eighth graders outperformed the national average scores in all categories.

Perhaps the most striking thing in these numbers is the within-state gap between white and minority students. Not only did white Texas students outperform white Wisconsin students, the gap between white students and minority students in Texas was much less than the gap between white and minority students in Wisconsin.

In other words, students perform better in Texas schools than in Wisconsin schools – especially minority students.

How liars play the “hate group” card

False teacher Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie shows you how in GOP 2012 Field Looks To Tea Party For Inspiration.  It is a simple two-step process:

1. Find a group that labels as a “hate group” any organization that teaches the truth of the Bible, namely that homosexual behavior is a sin.

2. Refer to that organization as a “hate group” as if they were akin to the KKK.

It is just that easy!   And just that dishonest!

Also, it helps to be a hypocrite like Chuck who criticizes Rick Perry for — eek! — hosting a prayer conference as an alleged “separation” issue.  See Hypocrisy: Houston Prayers Violate Church & State but Jim Wallis at the White House Does Not? and ask why Chuck didn’t have a problem with this:

In contrast, the Religious Left has applauded Sojourners chief Jim Wallis’ “Circle of Protection,” a Christians-only coalition that met with President Obama to defend welfare programs from Republican budget cutters. Supposedly the prayer summit, according to liberal critics like Americans United for Separation of Church and State, was “exclusive” and theocratic. But the White House summit, despite its specific political and partisan goal, was widely lauded.

Jim “the Gospel is all about wealth redistribution” Wallis is as fake as Chuck, taking big $$ from atheist George Soros.  The National Council of (apostate) Churches also takes secular Leftist funds.  Somehow Chuck & Co. never point that out.

The faux-reverend Chuck is also a good little political hack, spouting all the talking points of the Left –“Tea Party downgrade” (because the problem definitely isn’t spending 70% more than we take in!), “extremist,” “increasing taxes” (aka coveting the wealth of others), “Religious right” (double eek!), etc.  He ghoulishly blamed Sarah Palin for allegedly violent speech before the Arizona bodies were cold yet has been not-so-strangely silent on the “Tea Partiers are terrorists” comments from Biden et al.  What a hypocrite.

I’m glad to see the new group CASE (Christians for A Sustainable Economy), which will help real Christians protect the poor from the likes of Currie, Obama, etc. who prefer to keep them enslaved.

The title says it all: Texas requires losing parties of frivolous lawsuits to pay their own costs.  This has been needed for a long time.  It will eliminate waste, reduce stress for innocent people and give even more incentive for people to create businesses and jobs in Texas.  This is the kind of approach that led Texas to add more jobs over 5 years than the other 49 states combined.

This week, Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed a law that will help free Lone Star State businesses from the threat of frivolous lawsuits by enacting “loser-pays” tort reform. Prior to the legislation, litigants faced a no-lose situation, while defendants stood to lose everything—even for the most outrageous, bizarre and wrongful accusations.

Even when defendants won, the legal fees associated with protecting themselves could add up to tens of thousands of dollars. As a result, many pre-emptively settled out of court, as the settlement payment would be less than the legal fees. Under Texas’s new legislation, however, litigants will be forced to pay for the defendant’s attorney fees if the case is determined groundless. This will compel would-be litigants to consider the practicality of their complaint before taking legal action, and it will protect defendants from the dire financial impact of frivolous cases.

The Texas legislation should serve as a national model, especially as we recover from the Great Recession. America has the most expensive civil-justice system in the world, costing $255 billion in 2008, or nearly 2% of gross domestic product, according to a 2009 study by the firm Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson). That’s more than twice as much as any other industrialized nation as a percent of the GDP.

One of the reasons why we are in an economic mess is because we have not reined in the excesses of the trial lawyers. And the Democrats will never be able to rein them in because they are the core of the Democrat party, along with labor unions, teacher unions, word-smithing academics, criminals, welfare recipients and Hollywood celebrities. The sheltered, non-productive segments of society, who have never had to run a business or make payroll.

He forgot to mention the abortion and LGBTQ lobbies, but otherwise it was very accurate.

What if a Republican President decided not to enforce a law he didn’t like?

Anyone on the Left cheering President Obama’s dropping of legal support for the Defense of Marriage Act isn’t thinking even 30 minutes into the future.  Do they really like the precedent that a President can pick what laws to enforce?  (BTW, DOMA passed by huge margins in the Senate (85 – 14) and House (342 – 67) and was signed into law by President Clinton.)  Will they just sit there when a Republican President does ignores laws he opposes?

Let’s turn to our one-stop-heresy shop, Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie, for the typical response of the theological Left (i.e., false teachers):

President Obama Does The Christian Thing In Dropping Legal Support For Defense of Marriage Act.

Really?  Got any Bible verses for that?  In addition to Jesus specifically stating that marriage was designed for one man and one woman:

  • 100% of the verses addressing homosexual behavior denounce it as sin in the clearest and strongest possible terms.
  • 100% of the verses referring to God’s ideal for marriage involve one man and one woman.
  • 100% of the verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).
  • 0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions.

President Obama today directed the U.S. Department of Justice to stop defending theindefensible: the so called “Defense of Marriage Act” which bars federal recognition of same sex marriages.

“Indefensible?”  That’s beyond hyperbole considering what both Christian and non-Christian cultures have determined through history.  Same-sex unions by nature and design do not produce the next generation.  Marriage, by definition, is the union of a man and a woman.

This was an act of moral courage on the part of the president

That’s odd, when a Republican like Rick Perry spends time passing a sonogram law to reduce abortions and make them safer for women the Lefty criticism is that he should be working on the budget or other bigger problems (Bigger than saving lives?!).  But when Obama does something like this to cater to certain sexual preferences it is courage. Check.

The prohibition of gay marriage is the twin evil of the legal prohibition that not long ago existed that barred interracial marriages.

For the 100th time, skin color is morally neutral, sexual behavior is not.

The General Synod of the United Church of Christ made history by becoming the first mainline Christian denomination to endorse full marriage equality in 2005.

Yes, we know you are a band of apostates.  As Glenn noted, “The United Church of Christ has again demonstrated it is more involved with the social gospel than the true gospel, and that they assist those who behave illegally.  In Chicago a UCC has given sanctuary and protected some of the Wisconsin Democrat lawmakers who are hiding from the State Patrol rather return to do the job they are being paid to do.”

The U.S. Department of Justice “will now take the position in court that the act should be struck down as a violation of same-sex couples’ rights to equal protection under the law,” according to The New York Times.  This action on the part of the president moves our nation closer to being the Beloved Community.

“Beloved community” is a classically nauseating false teacher-ism.  He’s got no Bible verses to back it up.  He makes up the phrase then pretends that his false god makes that the highest goal.  Then again, what do you expect from a “reverend” who brags about taking 6 year old girls to gay pride parades?

Kudos to Texas Governor Rick Perry on the sonogram bill — UPDATED

Ensuring women have all the necessary information before having abortions is a perfectly logical requirement.  The pro-choice movement goes into hysterics over things like this, of course, just like they oppose common sense rules like parental notification (your child can’t take an Advil at school without your permission and a multi-step process, but the school can take them to have your child undergo a risky medical procedure that kills your grandchild?!).

Why don’t pro-choicers trust women to make good decisions with the information available?  Do they think they are too fragile to know the truth?  The real reason for their opposition is that they know that when women see ultrasounds they are much less likely to have abortions.

Also note that this is a case where a politician accomplishes something for the pro-life movement.  I know some politicians of both parties use issues like this in a cynical way just to raise funds.  They prefer that it not be fully settled.  But legislation like this will save lives.

Some critics have said the bill isn’t an emergency, but I say that if lives are at stake then it is an emergency.

Others say it may traumatize the woman.  But the pro-aborts typically insist that abortion is never traumatizing.  These women may see ultrasounds of other babies in the future.  Couldn’t that traumatize them as well?  And if it is just a “blob of tissue” being removed, how would that be traumatic?

UPDATE: I wanted to add these important thoughts from commenter Roxanne.  They further highlight the benefits of this law.  If people really care about “safe” abortions then they would require ultrasounds.

As Abby Johnson mentioned in a side note in “Unplanned’, ultrasounds are the safer way to do abortions – but clinics don’t like the extra cost and time (which cuts down on the number of abortions that can be done in a given day).

If a baby really were like a tumour, you would demand an ultrasound, right?  You would want to know exactly what it is that’s in there and the risks of taking it out.  If women really were capable of making their own decisions, you wouldn’t use this foolish version of “informed consent,” in which the onus is on the patient to find out everything that she needs to know, while the doctor gives her tests and information only  under legal duress; you would make the information available to her, trusting her to understand it and use it.

Via Republican Governor Rick Perry demands sonograms before abortions « Wintery Knight.

Texas governor Rick Perry is throwing his weight behind legislation to require doctors to show women a sonogram of their unborn child before having an abortion, declaring the issue a legislative “emergency.”

As an emergency item on the legislative agenda, the state congress will have the option of voting on the measure within the first 30 days of the current legislative session.

In addition to the sonogram, the bill would also require doctors to give mothers a detailed description of their child and his state of development, including the presence of limbs and internal organs. Mothers will also listen to their children’s heartbeat, and must be given information about abortion alternatives no less than 24 hours before the abortion occurs.

Perry’s decision to fast track the legislation was announced at a speech before the Texas Rally for Life, held on Saturday in Austin, the state capital.

“Nearly 40 years have passed since the tragedy of Roe vs. Wade was decided by the United States Supreme Court, and since then, fifty million, fifty million children have lost their chances,” Perry told the crowd.

“That is a catastrophic number.  That’s twice the population of this entire state. It’s pretty hard to imagine people of good conscience sitting idly by through this, and in Texas we haven’t. We have actively worked against that Roe vs. Wade decision.  We have taken great strides in protecting the unborn.”
