Ontario Judge: Parents Have No Right to Know What Gay Activist Taught Their Children

Last November, a certified teacher named Laura Wolfson was invited as a guest speaker at a school-wide GSA held at Parkside High School in Dundas. Wolfson reportedly identified herself to the 400 students as a lesbian “youth worship leader” from a synagogue and held herself out to be an authority on Old Testament Scripture.

Wolfson allegedly sought to discredit Catholic teaching on homosexuality by suggesting that since the eating of fish on Fridays was no longer adhered to, neither should biblical teachings on homosexuality.

Note how they didn’t mind her (false) religious views being aired in public schools and to keep parents from knowing what she said.  That is classic Liberalism: Free political and religious speech — as long as they agree with it and as long as they can force it on your children.  Coming soon to a school near you!

Sex-trafficking on campus: the logical outworking of feminist rhetoric — only in the upside-down world of Liberalism could women deliberately having commitment-free sex with random people qualify as a good thing.  And you know the guys they hook up with just hate having sex without (apparent) consequences.  This is what a feminist actually said:

The hookup culture that has largely replaced dating on college campuses has been viewed, in many quarters, as socially corrosive and ultimately toxic to women, who seemingly have little choice but to participate. Actually, it is an engine of female progress—one being harnessed and driven by women themselves.

[…]To put it crudely, feminist progress right now largely depends on the existence of the hookup culture. And to a surprising degree, it is women—not men—who are perpetuating the culture, especially in school, cannily manipulating it to make space for their success, always keeping their own ends in mind. For college girls these days, an overly serious suitor fills the same role an accidental pregnancy did in the 19th century: a danger to be avoided at all costs, lest it get in the way of a promising future.

Yes, a future filled with abortions, disease, low self-esteem, sin, loneliness, cynicism, etc.

More Liberal self-parody: Using young girls to tug on your heartstrings to ensure unlimited taxpayer-funded abortions for your daughters.  Maybe one day those daughters will realize that you think it would have been morally neutral for you to have had them crushed and dismembered in the womb — even if the reason was that you wanted a boy instead.  Isn’t that sweet how these kids want others to have to pay to have your grandkids killed?

Who has seen Courageous?

I rarely go to any movies so I must confess I haven’t seen this one.  If you saw it, do you recommend it?  What did you think of it?

“We’ve minimized the role of fathers, so we’ve created a generation of barbarians—children who become men without growing up. They stay in boyhood through their 20s and 30s, sometimes their whole lives. They think of themselves first, indulge in pornography, do what they feel like, and leave their wives and culture and churches to raise their children.” —Nathan, character in Courageous novel (www.epm.org/courageous)

Getting Galileo wrong. Twice.

Galileo and Viviani
Image via Wikipedia

Darwinists reflexively use the story of Galileo to advance the religious vs. science false dichotomy.  That fails on two levels.

1. The Galileo story that people usually refer to has many mythical elements.  And how many people can cite an example besides Galileo?

And as far as religious (or non-religious) beliefs getting in the way of science, who knows if Einstein’s presupposition of a static universe caused his error with the cosmological constant?  After all, an expanding universe certainly gives more support to a theist model than a static one.  That hypothesis cuts both ways.  This happens often in science, such as the myth of “junk DNA” that went on for years because Darwinists assumed it without evidence.

2. Which is the more pertinent element of the Galileo story?

A. Some religious people were wrong while other religious people were right.

B. Those in power were wrong and abused their authority and those not in power were right.

People who use the Galileo example typically assume A, but I think it is B.

The August 2011 issue of Salvo (great magazine and web site, btw) had an article about a professor forced to write an apology to a student he had harassed in class over her unwillingness to believe in Darwinian evolution.  He wrote a non-pology instead, “apologizing” for “appearing to denigrate” her beliefs and insisting that he hadn’t meant to offend her.

Worse yet, he had the gall to refer to Galileo.  The girl’s lawyer replied to him noting the irony of the Galileo example.  After all, who was the authority figure in this case and who was the victim?  The professor was authority figure (the “Pope” of this situation) and he used his power to deliberately humiliate the woman taking risks in opposing the majority view.  The professor cast himself as the hero, but the woman was the one challenging the orthodox position and standing up for free thinking.

P.S. The religion vs. science canard always reminds me of this gag from The Simpsons,  where Lisa Simpson finds a phony fossil of what appears to be an angel.  The judge presiding over a trial about the fossil said this:

As for science versus religion, I’m issuing a restraining order: Religion must stay 500 yards from science at all times.

Why do so many children leave church when they go to college?

There was a very interesting finding in Survey: High School Seniors ‘Graduating from God’, Christian News.  More critical thinking leads to better transitions.

Whether it was with the youth group overall or with a specific adult leader, students who had the opportunity to struggle with tough questions and pain during high school seemed to have a healthier transition into college life,” stated the study by Powell and Krista Kubiak, youth worker and graduate of the Marriage and Family program at Fuller.

And youth workers play a significant part in such conversations involving struggles and tough questions. But in the big picture, youth groups are leaving out any preparations to help students make a successful transition.

Now that doesn’t surprise me.  I’ve always felt that youth groups that focus on entertainment, “walk the talk” and similar themes aren’t preparing youth to go to college where their faith will be challenged from all angles.

I’m glad to see the surveys show that the atheists have it all wrong.  No amount of “brain-washing” works if people think critically.  The faiths that last are much more likely to have been thought through carefully.  The ones that crumble didn’t know what faith really was.

Oh, and you can’t just throw stones at the youth groups.  It is the parents job first.  The biggest fault of the churches is not holding the parents primarily accountable.

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

So, how are you doing with that?

Shocking!

See OJ Simpson Finally Confesses to Murder.

“‘He told the producer: “Tell Oprah that yes, I did it. I killed Nicole, but it was in self-defence. She pulled a knife on me and I had to defend myself”,’ the insider was quoted as saying.”

. . .

Is there anyone except the 12 morons who were on the original jury that is surprised by this revelation?

Of course it was self-defense! That’s why he went to his “attacker’s” home wearing gloves and carrying a big knife. He had to defend himself!

One of the more egregious side issues of the OJ case was how groups like NOW, the National Organization of (unaborted) Women, rushed to OJ’s defense.  Uh, what about that pesky domestic abuse issue, folks?  That so disturbed Tammy Bruce that she quit NOW (I think she was head of the California chapter at the time) and began to oppose them.

More from Ann on Liberal “giving”

See Liberals Give ‘Til It Hurts (You) – Ann Coulter – Townhall Conservative, where Ann continues her analysis of Liberal “giving.”

Liberals never tire of discussing their own generosity, particularly when demanding that the government take your money by force to fund shiftless government employees overseeing counterproductive government programs.

They seem to have replaced “God” with “Government” in scriptural phrases such as “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)

This week, we’ll take a peek at the charitable giving of these champions of the poor.

In 2009, the Obamas gave 5.9 percent of their income to charity, about the same as they gave in 2006 and 2007. In the eight years before he became president, Obama gave an average of 3.5 percent of his income to charity, upping that to 6.5 percent in 2008.

. . .

Elected Democrats crow about how much they love the poor by demanding overburdened taxpayers fund government redistribution schemes, but can never seem to open their own wallets.

The only evidence we have that Democrats love the poor is that they consistently back policies that will create more of them.

Read the whole thing for details on Biden, Kennedy and other “champions of the poor” who are incredibly stingy by any measure.  These are the people that false teachers like Jim “the Gospel is all about wealth redistributionWallis and race-baiting Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie consider to be generous.

Honk if you’re paying my mortgage! – more bad news: Obama & Co. are set to “bail out” people who don’t even need to be bailed out.  They are current on their mortgages but owe more than the house is currently worth.  Sure, that’ll teach people to take accountability for their actions.  More of your tax dollars being wasted to drive negative behavior.

So, The Wage Gap IS True. Only, It’s Men Who Earn Less

As this new research shows, it’s women’s (and men’s) attributes and career choices that determine earnings. Yet there’s something troubling about Time‘s tone, which suggests that we should all be celebrating the idea of women dominating the workplace. To the extent that this trend is driven by men losing jobs and remaining out of work, and young men failing to attain the skills needed to meaningfully contribute to the economy, this is not good news at all.

Of course, we all want women to have the opportunity to compete and succeed in whatever profession they choose. But we want the same to be true for men. Furthermore, given that some women still wish to stay home or reduce their workload in order to spend time raising children, women’s higher earnings may actually be a symptom of hardship: More women are having to work more since the men in their lives can’t provide for the family alone or because they are providing for themselves.

This quote by Martin Luther speaks so well to the church today and those silent on controversial issues.  No one gets offended by people wanting to help the poor, but they sure do if you say that Jesus is the only way to salvation, that killing innocent human beings in the womb is wrong, that God’s design for marriage and parenting is one man and one woman, etc.

If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages there the loyalty of the soldier is proved. And to be steady on all the battlefields beside is merely flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.

Being bold about everything except the key topics of the day isn’t being bold at all.

Should Al Gore be arrested for inciting eco-terrorist hate crimes? – only if people want to be consistent with their anti-free speech views.  I’m pretty sure they only oppose alleged “hate speech” that they disagree with, which is why we have the First Amendment to begin with.
