All of which means that the actual message of the ad is “I had a job in the auto industry until about six years ago… and then I got a new job. Which is apparently one with a bad environmental and fiscal record, but that doesn’t matter! That’s because Barack Obama really, really needs me to get on the screen and tell you how great it is for me as a spectator to see the auto industry get bailed out. So I figure that I’m golden… oh, crud, Facebook. But… they promised me that Republicans couldn’t read!”

Which, admittedly, doesn’t really sing as a campaign message.

The viciousness of the Darwin Lobby:

Evolution News writes about an eminent scientist who is under by professors and students at Emory University because of his disagreement with Darwinian orthodoxy and his assertion that morality isn’t possible on a materialistic worldview.

Here’s the first article from Evolution News, which explains what got Dr. Carson in trouble with the Darwoids.

Obama’s SSM stance looks to be hurting him with Independents.  I’d ignore the Republican less likely / Democrat more likely figures, as those would probably be the same regardless.  But the Independent gap is telling.

Fooducate

My brother-in-law introduced me to a cool app called Fooducate.  You can search for foods online or just scan the barcode of a food product with your phone and it gives you nutritional information like this.

Most things aren’t surprising.  Dr. Pepper gets a D?  Wow!  Organic carrots get an A?  Who would have thought?

But it is very useful to discover what foods pretend to be healthy but aren’t.  Even the most nutritious looking, name brand protein bars get lousy scores.  Just eat a Snickers instead (cheaper and tastier).

Cereals are often much less healthy than you’d think.  I recommend checking them before you buy.  If you want a treat, then don’t worry about the score.  But don’t be fooled into thinking you are eating healthy when you aren’t.

Or it’s corollary, “3:00 – the 2nd most important snack time of the day.”

Important diet tip: Eat often.  Seriously.  If I eat often I eat much healthier.  I only crave things like McDonald’s if I’ve gone too long between meals.

If you eat often it is easier to eat smaller portions, because you won’t be starving.

Skipping meals = bad and counterproductive.

Eat often, but with smaller and healthier portions.  Try it.

P.S. I often eat a 2nd breakfast.  I’ll have my health shake on the way out the door around 5:45 then some cereal and/or yogurt around 9:00.  Mmmmmmm.
