So sheep food grows churches better than goat food? Who knew?

God, apparently.  But glad to see that some churches have caught on. The Hot ‘New’ Church Growth Method notes  that more conservative churches are growing faster than Leftist ones.

We must remember that religions can grow or shrink with bad doctrines or good.  If growth was the sole arbiter of soundness then Joel Osteen, Steven Furtick, Mormons, Muslims, etc. would be good people to go to.  But in our culture today, the “Christian” Left churches are doomed to shrink because they are indistinguishable from the world.  Why go to them for “doctrine” that is indistinguishable from the perversions, radical feminism and political correctness of college campuses, the mainstream media, and entertainment industries?  People can get God-mocking heresies for free 24×7.  Why waste time and money going to the “Christian” Left for more of the same?

Never forget that churchgoers who support “same-sex marriage”  — i.e., the “Christian” Left — have nearly identical views to the world on a host of issues such as abortion, adultery, porn, etc.  It shows who their real father is.
1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.
Jude 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

James 4:4 You adulterous people!  Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?  Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

So there is good news here: Just preach from the Bible and you will probably grow.  And even if you don’t, you can be sure you’ve done the right thing.  Remember that preaching the Gospel honors Christ regardless of whether the hearers convert. It is always good to speak his truths.
Don’t worry about gimmicks to draw in the goats, especially when those tactics will starve or run off the sheep.  Don’t try to make the world love you.  It dishonors God and it won’t work.
Trust that the sovereign God will do just what He promised.  He is going to save those whose names He wrote in the Lamb’s Book of Life from before the world began.   The question is whether you and your church will be faithful to him in the mean time.

Revelation 20:15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Sojourners’ demonstrates “Christian” Left’s ignorance of basic economic principles

a

Leftists literally fail at basic economics*, and it has far-reaching negative consequences for society.  For today’s example, look at that Tweet by Jim “the Gospel is all about wealth redistribution” Wallis’ Sojourners group.  They call making money from prisons, education and sick people an abomination.

I assume they are referring to for-profit prisons (which, of course, need proper oversight), those who make student loans and insurance companies.  Everyone needs a good scapegoat — it is right out of Leviticus 16! — and those evil people providing goods and services that no one is forced to buy (uh, except for the last one via Obamacare) sure make good enemies for the “Christian” Left.

But look at what they miss: Using their logic, prison guards, wardens, etc. are abominations for making their living off of prisons.

All teachers, principals, etc. are abominations for making their living off of students.

Doctors, nurses, hospitals, etc. are abominations for making their living from providing health care.

Their childish, naive, foolish argument proves far more than they wanted, and they probably don’t even realize it.

Gee, how many people will want to spend $500,000 for 8 hard years of school and then work long hours to give these Leftists free medical care?

And those precious teachers’ unions, which take turns with politicians in giving each other your money, may not be too excited about working for free.

And I’m sure you can run secure prisons by forcing people to build and operate them for free.

And isn’t abomination a rather strong word? Seems kinda judgmental of the tolerant, loving Left.

All that said, I’m glad that the author’s son had his opioid problem cured, though from the picture it looks like he was addicted to jelly beans.

Run, don’t walk, from the intellectually bankrupt economic lessons of the “Christian” Left.  They understand the free market as well as they do the Bible.

*My dog did better on an economics test than Leftists.  Seriously.  Sort of.

About those “doubt-filled” “Christian” Leftists . . .

I have no issues with people having doubts about their faith.  My standard advice is to “doubt your doubts” and focus on what you do know, and to keep studying to address your doubts.  Be like John the Baptist was when he was in prison and go straight to the source (but leave out the part where his head gets cut off). It isn’t like there are a lot of new questions in Christendom that we haven’t analyzed over the last 2,000 years.

But the “doubt-filled” “Christian” Leftists like Rachel Held Evans are a different story.  They feign doubt over orthodox beliefs they aren’t ready to jettison completely (though probably for worldly concerns rather than theological ones).  And on their pet heretical issues they exhibit no doubts at all.

First, note how being “doubt-filled” is the sole descriptor of her faith on her Twitter page.

a

But then look at the LGBTQX topic, where the universal church had clear teachings until the last decade or two, when Leftist “churches” splintered off into the pro-perversion camp.

b

The “gcnconf” she is referring to is the oxymoronic “Gay Christian Network” Conference.  She was a speaker at a previous conference of theirs.  Are you getting the feeling that Mrs. Evans doesn’t have a lot of doubt about her theology of human sexuality?  She is desperate to be identical to the world, just like the rest of the “Christian” Left.

She also had no doubts about supporting Hillary Clinton and her pro-abortion extremism.  Mrs. Evans rationalized that supporting Hillary’s plans, which included taxpayer-funded abortions up to the child’s 1st breath, would reduce abortions — because unicorns or something.

She is a typical phony, mocking the word of God for profit and stating outright lies about  how she allegedly holds to biblical inspiration (while simultaneously saying that every passage about God telling the Israelites to take over the Promised Land was a lie).

In the same way, Jim Wallis has no doubts about how the Gospel is “all about wealth redistribution.” Mark “Jesus is not my God” Sandlin has no doubts about Jesus not being divine.  Chuck Currie has no doubts about Jesus not being the only way to salvation.  And so on.

We should have compassion for those suffering from the temptation of same-sex attraction. We shouldn’t grandstand on sins just because they aren’t temptations for us. But we should never affirm any kind of sins. That is hatred toward God and neighbor and love for ourselves.

Don’t be taken in by the faux skepticism of these diseased trees.  You can be sure that whatever they are “doubting” today is just false humility about their heresy of tomorrow.

“Christian” Left race-baiters want racial harmony like McDonald’s wants more vegans

If the “Christian” Left “social justice warriors” like Jim “the Gospel is all about wealth redistribution” Wallis and his pro-abortion / pro-LGBTQX perversion Sojourners group were at all consistent, they would have denounced the racist torture of a disabled white boy by four black people.  While I think the designation of “hate crimes” is foolish because it criminalizes thoughts, if this isn’t a hate crime then nothing is.

But these “Christian” Leftists have been almost completely silent.  The only item on any of their Twitter feeds has been this by Wallis. And his concern wasn’t for the obvious racist crime and the state of the victim, but for the reputation of the Black Lives Matter terrorist organization.

a

Got that? Not a word of sympathy for the victim. Not a word of admonishment against the criminals. No acknowledgement of the racist nature of the crime or how the Left’s constant race-baiting may have been a factor.  Just a reflexive defense of a truly wicked, racist organization.  That’s Jim Wallis.

And the “Christian” Left is so busy spreading #fakenews about Sessions, Obamacare, why we should listen to Dan Rather about integrity, and more that they can’t be bothered to mention it.  They haven’t said a single thing.  Just as with the Kermit Gosnell murders, they are just counting on the media to let this go down the memory hole so they can get back to their shameless race-baiting.

And false teacher Rachel Held Evans is too busy pushing LGBTQX perversions to mention this crime.

Remember that these groups are pro-abortion extremists, wanting zero restrictions on abortions up to the child’s first breath.  Abortions already murder blacks at a rate three times that of whites (and Hispanics at a 2x rate), and the “Christian” Left knows that rate would be higher with their goal of taxpayer-funded abortions.  Policies that literally kill minorities in a wildly disproportionate way seem racist to me.

The aggressive lack of interest by the Left — including the “Christian” Left — on this horrific crime proves what we already knew: They like racial discord.  They profit from it.

This is one of the many reasons to never trust the motives of the “Christian” Left.  Nothing but bad fruit from diseased trees.

Matthew 7:15–20 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

Rachel Held Evans caught lying

Update and welcome to Twitter visitors!  I addressed one of Mrs. Evans’ Superfans here and that got a lively discussion going.  The “Christian” Leftists continue to prey on people’s biblical ignorance by insisting that I’m accusing God of genocide by agreeing with the Bible.  I am not making that up.  But anyone who just scans the OT (see all the promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the book of Joshua, and more) can see that you can’t make Evans’ claims and still hold that scripture is inspired.  There are countless verses that it was God’s idea and his doing to clear it out — including the varied miraculous accounts of how He accomplished it. Evans calls the human writers and the Holy Spirit liars.  On the “Christian” Left view the entire OT makes no sense.  It is sad but not surprising that her fans think this passage is a “dogmatic and fundamentalist understanding of biblical inspiration.”

2 Timothy 3:16–17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

And they ignore how Jesus viewed the OT.  Friendly reminder: Jesus referred to the most controversial parts of the OT without apology: Adam & Eve, real marriage, creation, Noah, Jonah, Sodom, etc.  So, for example, Jesus had zero issues with the flood.  And he’s the same Jesus who did this:

Jude 5 Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

I’ll let you decide whether to agree with her or Jesus on whether the OT is the word of God.

Short version: Any definition of biblical inspiration in which hundreds of verses are blasphemous lies is malicious and/or ignorant. And that’s how Rachel Held Evans and much of the “Christian” Left define it.

Mrs. Evans has been her usual passive-aggressive self on her Twitter page lately, attacking scripture and implicitly denying the divinity of Jesus. But when called out for specifics, she lied and said she “absolutely” believes the Hebrew Scriptures are inspired.

evans

But that’s not what she said in her book:

God never told the Israelites to kill the Canaanites. The Israelites believed that God told them to kill the Canaanites.

Here’s what really happened: God never got the Bible wrong. The “Christian” Left believe that God got the Bible wrong.

You cannot say things like that while claiming that the scriptures were inspired.  Just scan the Bible and see how many passages would be lies if what what Evans said was true.  And not just lies, but blasphemous lies. It wouldn’t be a little fib if you cleared out and killed an entire country and falsely claimed it was God’s idea.

Read the Bible for yourself then decide who is lying: Evans or the authors of scripture.

P.S. If that wasn’t enough, check out Jes Kast, whom Evans adores, and see if her theology is biblical.

The “Christian” Left is getting more and more unhinged

The false teachers of the “Christian” Left have been getting measurably more unhinged since Trump beat Hillary three times (at last count)*.  And that’s good, because with their veneer completely stripped away it will be harder for world-lovers to pretend they are really Christians.

Example 1: They’ve always been pro-abortion extremists, demanding that taxpayers pay to kill the children of “Christian” Leftists, minorities and others up to their first breath and insisting that Jesus agrees with them.  But now they are resorting to historical revisionism (read: lying) and full-scale mockery of anyone who would dare question their Molech-worshiping theology.

achl

They have been corrected on this many times, so they are lying wolves and not just misinformed by #fakenews.  Even atheistic countries opposed abortion for thousands of years, and the church always did until about 50 years ago when some apostate denominations fully abandoned orthodoxy.  The Hippocratic Oath, written before the birth of Christ by non-Jews, was explicitly anti-abortion. And even Planned Parenthood was explicitly anti-abortion up to the 1960’s.

Here are a few quotes from early church leaders on abortion.

And when we say that those women who use drugs to bring on abortion commit murder, and will have to give an account to God for the abortion, on what principle should we commit murder? For it does not belong to the same person to regard the very foetus in the womb as a created being, and therefore an object of God’s care, and when it has passed into life, to kill it . . . Athenagoras of Athens, circa 180 A.D. from A Plea For The Christians

You shall love your neighbor more than your own life. You shall not slay a child by abortion. You shall not kill that which has already been generated. (Epistle of Barnabas 19.5; second century)

Do not murder a child by abortion or kill a new-born infant. (The Didache 2.2; second century catechism for young Christian converts)

It does not matter whether you take away a life that is born, or destroy one that is coming to the birth. In both instances, the destruction is murder. (Tertullian, Apology, 9.4; second century)

Those who give abortifacients for the destruction of a child conceived in the womb are murderers themselves, along with those receiving the poisons. (Basil the Great, Canons, 188.2; fourth century)

Jerome called abortion “the murder of an unborn child” (Letter to Eustochium, 22.13; fourth century).

Augustine used the same phrase, warning against the terrible crime of “the murder of an unborn child” (On Marriage, 1.17.15; fourth century).

The early church fathers Origen, Cyprian and Chrysostom likewise condemned abortion as the killing of a child.

Oh, and they published that the day after Christmas.  Remember, using their reasoning, Jesus himself would have approved of him being killed up to his first breath — even on Christmas eve!** This is obviously one of the many passages they delete from the “Christian” Left “bible.”

Luke 1:39–45 In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”

And of course they are wildly anti-science, just as they are with climate change, transgenderism, etc. Any mainstream embryology textbook – or just plain common sense — confirms that the unborn are unique human beings from fertilization.

Example 2: To poke God and real Christians in the eye a bit more, they also posted this.  Then they were shocked to find that people found it offensive.

achl

They ignore this, and the rest of the Bible.

Romans 1:26–27 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Example 3: They thought that their “Christian” site must show a nonsense article about how Donald Trump allegedly holds his hands in the shape of the universal symbol for  vaginas (because people tenting their hands is so newsworthy or something . . . and who knew there was a symbol for that?!) and then they banned lots of their regular “Christian” Left readers for having the audacity to point out that it wasn’t terribly edifying.

—–

Run, don’t walk from “Christian” Leftists. They aren’t just a little heretical, they are drunk, naked, running-down-the-streets-screaming heretical. You have no excuses for following them.

*I didn’t vote for Trump, but man oh man am I glad Hillary lost. She was already cartoonishly evil before the election. Can you imagine how over-the-top evil she would have been had she won?!  And watching the Left — including the “Christian” Left — continuously wet their pants over it the last 2 months has given me nonstop joy.

**Yes, I know He wasn’t born on December 25.

Liberal & legalistic churches: Two sides of the same counterfeit coin

legalism

I spend a lot of time here whaling on the “Christian” Left, mainly because they pose as believers but teach the opposite of core Christianity at nearly every turn.  But there is a dangerous counter-error to their false teachings, namely that you need to stop sinning before you come to Jesus, or that you need to have not done any “major” sins (yes, some sins are worse than others, but all separate us from God in an eternal way and all are forgivable if you come to God on his terms).

I heard a sad tale of a couple who had aborted a child.  Feeling great guilt, one asked if perhaps they should go to church.  The other said, “I don’t think we’d be welcome there.”  Sadly, that is true for many churches.  I know of churches that support prison ministry in a broad sense – even sending volunteers into the prisons – but would not welcome any ex-offenders in their congregation.  I realize that one must use discernment when adding members, but that attitude saddens me.  I know that people with those histories would be welcomed at our church.

Legalism is not only unkind and hypocritical, it reveals a lack of faith in the transforming power of the Gospel.

I don’t think it would have been a compelling Gospel message to me if someone would have said, “I’ve got the best and most important news you can ever hear, and I’ll tell you as soon as you stop being greedy, lustful, angry, covetous, etc.”  But back to the “Christian” Left, it is also a ridiculous message to say, “Even though you are greedy, lustful, angry, covetous, etc. you don’t need to repent and believe, because Jesus loves you as you are.”

Avoid Christian liberalism and legalism at all costs.  Neither are the real Gospel.  Read the Bible carefully and for all it is worth and know the real God and the real Gospel.
