Two questions to ask those upset about the 15 minutes it took to kill a convicted murderer

While conceding that capital punishments don’t need to take longer than necessary, there are a couple questions you can ask those upset about the 15 minutes it took for a murderer in Ohio to die.  First, a little background via Media Goes Crazy After Pregnant Woman’s Killer Executed, Ignores Abortion:

Last night by lethal injection of “untested drugs”, Ohio executed the brutal thug who, in 1989, raped and stabbed to death expectant mother Joy Stewart.

Naturally, the left wing advocacy media wants to let people know inhumane and cruel they believe it was by giving a play by play of what the killer went through in his final moments.   Examples of headlines, along with excerpts (bolded emphasis added by me):

AP – Executed Ohio killer Dennis McGuire took 15 minutes to die with never-before-tried drugs

LUCASVILLE, Ohio — A condemned Ohio inmate appeared to gasp several times and took more than 15 minutes to die Thursday as he was executed with a combination of drugs never before tried in the U.S. . . .

Here are the questions:

1. Are you familiar with the details of how he raped and killed the woman and her child?  (She was 8 months pregnant.).  It seems like it would have been newsworthy to include the reason he was being being to death.

2. Do you think people’s views on abortions would change if they were described in the same level of detail as the execution was?  Keep in mind that the unborn are completely innocent of any crimes, while this man raped and murdered a woman and her child.  Also keep in mind how they are killed — typically by having their skulls crushed and limbs ripped off, and how the pro-abortion lobby strenuously fights against anesthesia for the human beings killed in abortions.

Your tax dollars at work

It is just Planned Parenthood, doing the thing they do 2nd best — hiding rape.  Does it bother people that PP took $15,000,000 of our tax dollars to support Obama’s re-election so he could give them hundreds of millions more and to help them hide crimes like this?

This is from last year but was linked in a more recent article.  But they’ve been caught doing this countless times.  Via Planned Parenthood Quits Defending Secret Abortion on Raped Teen:

A lawsuit in which Planned Parenthood was recently found to have violated an Ohio informed consent law has been “resolved and dismissed,” according to the Alliance Defense Fund allied attorney who filed the suit.

ADF-allied attorney Brian Hurley represents the parents of a girl who, at age 14, was brought to a Planned Parenthood clinic for an abortion by the 22-year-old soccer coach who impregnated her.

“The health and safety of young girls is far more important than Planned Parenthood’s desire to make money on an abortion,” said ADF Senior Counsel Steven H. Aden. “This lawsuit was yet another clear demonstration of Planned Parenthood’s ongoing effort to put its profit margin ahead of the true needs of young women. If they truly cared about the girls who enter their doors, they would not be ignoring Ohio law and allowing statutory rape to occur so they can make money killing a baby. They also wouldn’t be trying so desperately to keep all of their records secret.”

In December 2010, the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas determined that Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio Region violated state law when it failed to meet with the 14-year-old girl at least 24 hours prior to giving her the abortion. Following this, a psychologist found that the abortion had caused her to suffer significant psychological harm, including post-traumatic stress disorder. The case was “resolved and dismissed” shortly thereafter.

Hurley, one of more than 2,000 attorneys in the ADF alliance, filed the suit Roe v. Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio Region on behalf of the girl’s parents when they discovered that Planned Parenthood allowed her to undergo the abortion at the behest of her soccer coach.

Neither Planned Parenthood nor the soccer coach notified the parents of the abortion or the sexual relationship.  Planned Parenthood also did not notify civil authorities, which is required in cases of statutory rape. The soccer coach was convicted of sexual battery and served three years in prison.

Another reason to move to Texas!

The title says it all: Texas requires losing parties of frivolous lawsuits to pay their own costs.  This has been needed for a long time.  It will eliminate waste, reduce stress for innocent people and give even more incentive for people to create businesses and jobs in Texas.  This is the kind of approach that led Texas to add more jobs over 5 years than the other 49 states combined.

From the Wall Street Journal:

This week, Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed a law that will help free Lone Star State businesses from the threat of frivolous lawsuits by enacting “loser-pays” tort reform. Prior to the legislation, litigants faced a no-lose situation, while defendants stood to lose everything—even for the most outrageous, bizarre and wrongful accusations.

Even when defendants won, the legal fees associated with protecting themselves could add up to tens of thousands of dollars. As a result, many pre-emptively settled out of court, as the settlement payment would be less than the legal fees. Under Texas’s new legislation, however, litigants will be forced to pay for the defendant’s attorney fees if the case is determined groundless. This will compel would-be litigants to consider the practicality of their complaint before taking legal action, and it will protect defendants from the dire financial impact of frivolous cases.

The Texas legislation should serve as a national model, especially as we recover from the Great Recession. America has the most expensive civil-justice system in the world, costing $255 billion in 2008, or nearly 2% of gross domestic product, according to a 2009 study by the firm Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson). That’s more than twice as much as any other industrialized nation as a percent of the GDP.

From the commentary by the Wintery Knight:

One of the reasons why we are in an economic mess is because we have not reined in the excesses of the trial lawyers. And the Democrats will never be able to rein them in because they are the core of the Democrat party, along with labor unions, teacher unions, word-smithing academics, criminals, welfare recipients and Hollywood celebrities. The sheltered, non-productive segments of society, who have never had to run a business or make payroll.

He forgot to mention the abortion and LGBTQ lobbies, but otherwise it was very accurate.
