“If Mrs. Dahmer/Mrs. Hitler of the 21st century wanted to have an abortion, what would you say to her?”

I’m re-running this as a response to the “Would you have killed baby Hitler?” silliness floating around the Interwebs.  Just replace “Jeffery” with “Adolph” and you’ll get the point.
The provocative question in the title came from a recent commenter. She was referring to Jeffrey Dahmer, a mass murderer who identified as a homosexual. Of course, this hypothetical could never happen. We don’t know for certain what people will do in the future. How do I know that she is carrying Jeffrey and that he will kill many people? Is this a Hot Tub Time Machine situation?

But while suspending my reality for the sake of discussion, here’s my answer:

  • I would tell her not to abort, because abortion kills an innocent human being.
  • Killing people because they might kill — or even would be highly likely to kill — is a rather dangerous precedent. I’m one of those compulsively old-fashioned types who thinks you should punish people after they commit crimes, not before.
  • I would offer to give her parenting advice based on the word of God. It isn’t fool-proof, but it would increase his odds greatly.

I asked a couple clarifying questions for the commenter but oddly enough she never came back to answer them. Here they are for her, if she is still reading, and for anyone else sharing her views:

Do you approve of capital punishment for Jeffrey after he has committed his crimes? (If you are, you are an exception, as most pro-legalized abortionists I know are anti-capital punishment.) I realize that is sort of a “duh” question on my part considering that you want to execute him decades before his crimes, but I want to make sure I represent your views accurately.

Isn’t your objection to Jeffrey Dahmer that he killed innocent human beings? How is killing an innocent human being (at least at that stage of his life) consistent with that?

Isn’t it customary to wait until after people commit crimes to punish them?

Do you agree that the human being Mrs. Dahmer would have destroyed is actually Jeffrey at a particular stage of development?  If so, we agree that the unborn are human beings at a particular stage of development.

How do you know Jeffrey will be evil and not a hero [cough, cough] like Obama?

If she can have Jeffrey killed inside the womb for crimes he might or even “will” commit (in this hypothetical), can she kill him outside the womb for the same reasons? If not, why not?

If Mrs. Dahmer didn’t want to abort Jeffrey even though she “knew” what he would do, should the government force her to abort him? If not, can the government kill him outside the womb to protect others?

—–

My guess is that posing the Dahmer/Hitler question gets all sorts of virtual high fives and back slapping on pro-legalized abortion blogs, but I think it is pretty easy to prove how ridiculous the premise is. They work hard at justifying abortion. If only they would use their powers for good instead of evil.

What would the rest of you say to Mrs. Dahmer or to the commenter who brought this up?

Curt Schilling’s only error was understatement

Curt Schilling’s Tweet had the correct figures, but it ignores that there are over a billion Muslims and there were only tens of millions of Germans.  So the threat from Islam is far greater than that of Nazi Germany.

It is tragic that stating the obvious like that can get you fired by the weasels at ESPN.

Via: ESPN Thought Police Come Down on Curt Schilling Again

It had been reported that Curt Schilling’s suspension from ESPN for being an alleged Islamophobe would be brief. However, that was before the moonbat thought police running that execrable outfit discovered that Schilling’s apology was not for saying that 2 + 2 = 4 regarding Islam, but for saying it in the wrong forum. For continuing to believe that Muslim terrorists pose a threat, he was subjected to further punishment:Schilling, the ex-MLB star and current ESPN broadcaster, was punished again by the network Thursday. He’ll be benched for the rest of the MLB season — taken off Sunday Night Baseball and nixed from wild-card game coverage.Whether he ever appears on ESPN again is doubtful. For the sake of his own self-respect, let’s hope not.Again we see that liberal totalitarians will never be satisfied until you convince them that you actually agree with their sick ideology, which entails obsequiously revering Muslims not despite but because of their hostile intentions toward the West.

Abortion proponent “thrilled” by an abortion on “Grey’s Anatomy” — great analysis of the moral schizophrenia of the pro-abortion movement.

One of many problems abortion proponents have is sending mixed messages about getting one.  Whether to act glib and risk offending normal sensibilities, or to act serious and risk humanizing the baby, that is the question.

. . .

And then the abortion. It ends up only looking sick and pathetic for a father to go so far as to willingly watch the baby he loves and wants being killed, all to support that child’s mother. And why all the drama if it isn’t human children being killed by abortion?

Scott Klusendorf is one of the world’s best pro-life apologists.  He had a good analysis of Ray Comfort’s 180 movie (go watch it if you haven’t yet).  You can only put so much in a 30 minute movie, so here are some things to be aware of if people have questions about the movie.  (Scott had lots of good things to say as well.  I just included the critiques here.)

My concern: The film overlooked some important distinctions:

1) The distinction between people in the film (Venice Beach?) and the public at large—The sample used in the film is not only small; it’s not where most people are in terms of historical knowledge. . . .

2) The distinction between shouting a conclusion and establishing one–A sharp abortion-choicer could easily say, “Ya, I value human life. What Hitler did to Jews was wrong, but the unborn are not valuable human beings, so the comparison fails.” To succeed, pro-lifers must first establish that the unborn are indeed human (which the film does through images rather than scientific evidence), but then show that none of the differences between the embryos we once were and the adults we are today justify killing us at that earlier stage of development. Differences of size, level of development, environment, and degree of dependency, are not value giving in the way that abortion-advocates need them to be in order to make their case. In short, jumping from killing Jews for bad reasons to killing the unborn for those same reasons leaves out important premises in the pro-life argument.

3) The distinction between killing a “baby” and unjustly killing human beings—Perhaps I am nitpicking here, but I think Comfort asks the wrong question when he points to a 6-week fetus and says, “Doesn’t that look like a baby?” What if the critic says “no?” End of discussion. . . .

4) The distinction between voting for pro-life candidates and voting pro-life–Put simply, what does it really mean to vote pro-life? . . .

5) The distinction between intentional killing and killing that is merely foreseen–Is it always wrong to kill an innocent human being? What about ectopic pregnancy? . . .

Despite these concerns, the film is worth seeing and Comfort gets huge accolades for his courage in confronting abortion head-on. Say what you want, at least he’s doing something about it and for that I am immensely grateful. Before ripping him, his evangelical critics need to ask themselves what they are doing to stop the bloodshed. Are they taking this holocaust as seriously as Comfort does? I can only pray that one day they will.

The dealth penalty and deterrence: what the research shows — contrary to myths, the death penalty is a deterrent.  The question is whether it is appropriate as a deterrent (I think it is).  After all, capital punishment for speeding would be a deterrent, but perhaps over the top.

Random thought about evolution by Glenn — good stuff!  My favorite, which the Darwinists typically gloss over or ignore:

DNA can only be produced with the help of at least 20 different types of protiens.  But these proteins can only be produced at the direction of DNA.  Since each requires the other, a satisfactory explanation for the origin of one must also explain the origin of the other.  Apparently, this entire manufacturing system came into existence simultaneously.  This implies Creation. (Walter T. P.S. I just read In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin.  It was a fascinating look at Hitler’s rise to power, viewed through countless letters and diary entries by the U.S. Ambassador to Germany and his daughter.  Apparently FDR did as little for the Jews as he did for blacks.

The author, Erik Larson, also wrote The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America about the Chicago World’s Fair and the serial killer that inspired what we now know as haunted houses.

The Episcopal Church and Satan — yep.  I also heard a clip of their leader saying how non-Christians such as Jews and Muslims do not need the Gospel.  That only contradicts a few thousand Bible verses.

Poor in America — not what you think — I’m all for helping the poor.   The problem is that Liberal solutions usually create more truly poor people.  And many of those in power have a vested interest in inflating the number of poor.

If poverty means lacking nutritious food, adequate warm housing, and clothing for a family, relatively few of the 35 million people identified as being “in poverty” by the Census Bureau could be characterized as poor. Moreover, the United States can readily reduce its remaining poverty, especially among children. The main causes of child poverty are low levels of parental work and high numbers of single-parent families. By increasing work and marriage, our nation can virtually eliminate remaining child poverty.

Go read about how many of the “poor” in America have houses, cars, TVs, adequate nutrition, more living space than most Europeans, and more.  If you’ve been around the world on mission trips and such you know what real poverty is.

Hey guitar players — this $14 clip-on tuner is terrific.  It clips on your guitar (or other stringed instrument) and is very easy to read and use.

Girl Scouts Distribute Planned Parenthood Sex Guide at UN Meeting — PP is such a sick, creepy organization.  Your tax dollars at work, folks.  How did the Girl Scouts stoop so low to permit this sort of thing?

The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides hosted a no-adults-welcome panel at the United Nations this week where Planned Parenthood was allowed to distribute a brochure entitled “Healthy, Happy and Hot.” The event was part of the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) which concludes this week.

Happy, Healthy and Hot The brochure, aimed at young people living with HIV, contains explicit and graphic details on sex, as well as the promotion of casual sex in many forms.  The brochure claims, “Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse… But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!” The brochure goes on to encourage young people to “Improve your sex life by getting to know your own body. Play with yourself! Masturbation is a great way to find out more about your body and what you find sexually stimulating. Mix things up by using different kinds of touch from very soft to hard. Talk about or act out your fantasies. Talk dirty to them.”

I do agree with Planned Parenthood that “An abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun.” At least that was their view in a 1964 brochure, before they figured out how lucrative abortions would be.

It is amazing how these communicable disease rates would be extended-play front page news if they belonged to any other group.
The data, presented at CDC’s 2010 National STD Prevention Conference, finds that the rate of new HIV diagnoses among men who have sex with men (MSM) is more than 44 times that of other men and more than 40 times that of women.
The rate of primary and secondary syphilis among MSM is more than 46 times that of other men and more than 71 times that of women, the analysis says.

Political correctness is agreeing with things you know aren’t true because you want to be more accepted.  It is selfish and cowardly.  If the pro-gay theology crowd really cared about gays they’d teach what the word of God says and they’d work to reduce these disease rates.

The health care proposal is so bad that it even got the Hillbuzz gang back to church to pray.  They see that this isn’t just about a monstrosity of a health care bill.  They know it is the gateway to pass all sorts of other awful legislation that could destroy the country.

Speaking of Hitler, go read Hitler and abortion.  Great work by Polish pro-lifers.

A summary of President Obama’s recent pro-abortion zeal

Hitler was a Christian? Sure, and I’m a cow. Moo.

One of the silliest claims from the New Atheists is that Adolph Hitler was a Christian. Riiiiiiight. Yes, they can find a few quotes where he makes that claim. And of course, anyone who murders 14,000,000 people would never lie to advance his cause, would he?

See the 10 part series about Adolf Hitler Was a Christian! Was Adolf Hitler a Christian? for a whole bunch of quotes like this:

National Socialism and religion cannot exist together….The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity’s illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity…. Let it not be said that Christianity brought man the life of the soul, for that evolution was in the natural order of things.

Anyone claiming that Hitler was a Christian is ignorant of the facts or highly deceptive.

Hat tip for the title: Matt Slick from CARM

“But Hitler would never lie about his faith!”

A recent commenter repeated the ridiculous “Hitler was a Christian” meme:

Hitler was a creationist, not an evolutionist. In fact, the Nazis banned Darwin’s books regarding evolution. If you read Hitler’s Mein Kampf, you will find several examples of Hitler citing (albeit in German) the “Creator” as his motivation for his “doing the work of the Lord”, as he put it. Although Hitler was a Catholic Christian, his anti-semitism was every bit as virulent as that of Martin Luther, one of the founders of Protestant Christianity. Please don’t try to blame Hitler’s genocidal acts on Darwinian evolution; remember, bearing false witness is against one of the main tenets of the Abrahmic faiths.

They cherry pick quotes from Hitler to advance their premise, ignoring quotes like this:

“When understanding of the universe has become widespread . . . Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.” Adolf Hitler

Even if anti-Christians can find some quotes by Hitler that they think provide support their conclusion, consider their composite views (this assumes they aren’t Holocaust deniers).  Among other things, they would claim that Hitler:

  • Killed millions of people.  Millions.
  • Repeatedly lied to his citizens and the world, often to justify war.
  • Suppressed free speech.
  • Didn’t lie about his “faith” to further his agenda.

Pretty ridiculous, eh?  Those who advance that argument are wildly naive or disingenuous.  So when they insist that Hitler was a Christian who opposed Darwinian philosophies I remain skeptical.

And regardless of what Hitler said about Darwinism, he executed the model quite well for many years.  He and his chosen people were the “fittest,” and they eliminated what they viewed as the un-fit.  I don’t see how any advocate of Darwinism has a foundation to criticize Hitler.  Of course they should criticize Hitler, as we all know the man was evil.  But their worldview is without foundation to criticize someone following the tautological Darwinian “rulebook.”

The Atheism is Dead blog addresses this in more detail.
