Bitter much?

Via Merry Christmas from the Episcopal Church, the Episcopals rejoice over selling a building for $50,000 to Muslims instead of for $150,000 to Bible-believing Christians.

“I’ve had two principles throughout this,” Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori told NPR earlier this year when speaking about Episcopal property battles. “One, that the church receive a reasonable approximation of fair market value for assets that are disposed of; and, second, that we not be in the business of setting up competitors that want to either destroy or replace the Episcopal Church.”

Oh, she has principles all right.  Straight from Satan.  Run, don’t walk, from denominations with leaders like her.  She thinks Bible-believers are her enemies but Islam isn’t!

The rainbow is the new sheepskin

Pastor D.L. Foster made a good observation on Facebook:

I’ve noticed that homosexual clerics are always in “uniform”. Every picture they take they are frocked to the nines in clerical garb.

Yes, it is almost as if they think that people wouldn’t know they were ministers if they didn’t advertise it.  After all, their views are indistinguishable from the world’s.  The only good news is that their denominations are continually shrinking — especially the UCC’s (must be the ejector seats).

You can also see this with how they constantly refer to their titles.  For example, I note with amusement how false teacher Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie always refers to himself as “Reverend,” whether on his blog title, Twitter, etc.  He probably makes his kids call him that.  But real Reverends actually trust in Jesus and know He’s the only way to salvation.  No amount of titles or clerical garb change the truth about these wolves.

False teacher roundup

The “Reverend” Katharine Jefforts Schori‘s Christmas eve message was anti-biblical gibberish.  She’s the head of the apostate Episcopal church.  Here’s a good analysis:

I’ve read this 685 word opus three times, and I still can’t figure out what she’s talking about, what it has to do with the Scripture cited at the outset, or what it has to do with authentic Christian teaching. There are oblique references and hints at stuff that is actually Christian (there’s an allusion to something Irenaeus may have said in the fifth paragraph, and she may be referring to Mother Teresa when she says “We meet that holy child in every vulnerable human being, in every one who hungers and thirsts”). Unfortunately, those get overwhelmed in a sea of platitudes, misbegotten metaphors, inappropriate analogies, and just plain heresy (“the growing redeemer in our midst”? are those who help the poor really to be said to be “redeemers”?). Anyone out there care to try to enlighten me?

Gay christian Mel White leader calls sin a “gift from God” — And he seems to think that God wanted him to abandon his family as well, just like the Episcopal Biship Vicki Gene Robinson.  It is notable how he says how long it took him to sin without embarrassment.  We call that searing your conscience.  I thoroughly addressed Mel’s pamphlet full of lies here.

Saudi Textbooks Teach Kids the Correct Way to Chop off Hands, Feet — I realize that Muslims aren’t false teachers of Christian doctrine, just another false religion.  I include it here as a reminder to the Dhimmi false teachers like Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie who insist that the number of “radical” Muslims is small and that we have “as much to learn” from Islam as they do from us.  Here’s the kind of foolishness Chuck & Co. preach.

More evidence of the difference between intelligence and wisdom: Stephen Hawking: “Science Will Win” (over religion).  He perpetuates a false dichotomy (scientific inquiry can exist within God’s universe).  He makes multiple errors in this line alone:

When you look at the vast size of the universe and how insignificant an accidental human life is in it, that seems most impossible.

Size does not confer value (do wives prefer diamonds or boulders?).  He begs the question by assuming that human life is insignificant and accidental, because neither are true if God created it.

I hope that he repents and believes soon.

Anglicans impose sanctions against gay affirming Episcopal church – good for them.

The homosexual religious movement has done nothing good for the unity of the church. Quite the contrary, it has seeded and fostered division and disobedience to God and his word time and time again. Its good to know some church leaders are growing a backbone and responding with influence killing sanctions. And that’s best course of action with people who are hell bent on spreading sexual immorality and false teachings. Restrict, restrain and if possible kill their influence.

Pro-life stalwart Star Parker running for Congress — Yea!

I’ve often been approached to run for public office. However, I always deferred because I felt I could make the greatest difference delivering my message as a free agent, outside the formal structure of politics.

But things have changed and now I’ve decided to run… I’m challenging a Black Caucus incumbent in a district that political pundits rate “safe” for Democrats.

But this year no Democrat representing low income Americansshould feel safe peddling the same plantation policies that already have produced our broken schools, broken families, and broken spirits. Now they’re bringing these bankrupt ideas to the whole country.

Even CA Senator Barbara Boxer recently admitted that this year no seat is safe. Will we resign ourselves to an America where freedom and prosperity are distant memories and where 40% out-of-wedlock births and abortion as birth control are our new social norms?

I won’t. It’s why I’m stepping into this race.

Tom Smitheringale wanted to prove the world was warming. Now he’s another alarmist with frostbite — Hat tip: Mark

This is actually now the fourth year running that warming alarmists have had to be rescued from expeditions to prove the Arctic is warmer than it actually is. It’s a metaphor.

Last year it was British eco-explorer Pen Hadow and his two-person team who had to be flown out mid-stunt, after battling brutal sub-zero weather conditions that gave the team’s photographer frostbite.

The year before, eco-adventurer Lewis Gordon Pugh was similarly thwarted.

He’d planned to kayak 1200km to the North Pole to raise awareness of how global warming had allegedly melted the ice sheet so badly that scientists warned the North Pole that summer could be ice-free.

No such luck. Pugh had to pull out, still 1000km from the finish, when a great barrier of sea ice blocked his route.

The year before gave even more farcical entertainment.

“Explorers and educators” Ann Bancroft and Liv Arnesen said they were off on what reporters described as “a historic 75-day expedition to the North Pole and beyond to raise awareness of global warming’s impact on the fragile Arctic”.

It turned out that what was fragile was not the Arctic but the alarmists, who had to call off their big trip not long after it started, when Arnesen suffered frostbite in three of her toes, and extreme cold drained their batteries.

Russian scientist says Arctic getting colder

An Arctic cold snap that began in 1998 could last for years, freezing the northern marine passage and making it impassable without icebreaking ships, said Oleg Pokrovsky of the Voeikov Main Geophysical Observatory.

Scientists who believe the climate is warming may have been misled by data from U.S. meteorological stations located in urban areas, where dense microclimates creates higher temperatures, RIA Novosti quoted Pokrovsky as saying.

With gay ruling, ECLA reaches full harlot status — the only bright side with these false teachers is that they have removed all subtlety.  They are pure, “In your face, God! We don’t care what the Bible says, except for the parts we like.” Anyone who follows them is being willfully led astray.

“Reproductive freedom” is one of those pro-legalized abortion terms that fails miserably.  It would appear to apply to birth control, not abortion, as abortion kills a human being that has been reproduced.  Don’t let the pro-aborts use that without pointing out the fallacy: If the mother and father hadn’t already reproduced, then abortion wouldn’t even be an option.

The Episcopal Church and Satan — yep.  I also heard a clip of their leader saying how non-Christians such as Jews and Muslims do not need the Gospel.  That only contradicts a few thousand Bible verses.

Poor in America — not what you think — I’m all for helping the poor.   The problem is that Liberal solutions usually create more truly poor people.  And many of those in power have a vested interest in inflating the number of poor.

If poverty means lacking nutritious food, adequate warm housing, and clothing for a family, relatively few of the 35 million people identified as being “in poverty” by the Census Bureau could be characterized as poor. Moreover, the United States can readily reduce its remaining poverty, especially among children. The main causes of child poverty are low levels of parental work and high numbers of single-parent families. By increasing work and marriage, our nation can virtually eliminate remaining child poverty.

Go read about how many of the “poor” in America have houses, cars, TVs, adequate nutrition, more living space than most Europeans, and more.  If you’ve been around the world on mission trips and such you know what real poverty is.

Girl Scouts Distribute Planned Parenthood Sex Guide at UN Meeting — PP is such a sick, creepy organization.  Your tax dollars at work, folks.  How did the Girl Scouts stoop so low to permit this sort of thing?

The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides hosted a no-adults-welcome panel at the United Nations this week where Planned Parenthood was allowed to distribute a brochure entitled “Healthy, Happy and Hot.” The event was part of the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) which concludes this week.

Happy, Healthy and Hot The brochure, aimed at young people living with HIV, contains explicit and graphic details on sex, as well as the promotion of casual sex in many forms.  The brochure claims, “Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse… But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!” The brochure goes on to encourage young people to “Improve your sex life by getting to know your own body. Play with yourself! Masturbation is a great way to find out more about your body and what you find sexually stimulating. Mix things up by using different kinds of touch from very soft to hard. Talk about or act out your fantasies. Talk dirty to them.”

I do agree with Planned Parenthood that “An abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun.” At least that was their view in a 1964 brochure, before they figured out how lucrative abortions would be.

It is amazing how these communicable disease rates would be extended-play front page news if they belonged to any other group.
The data, presented at CDC’s 2010 National STD Prevention Conference, finds that the rate of new HIV diagnoses among men who have sex with men (MSM) is more than 44 times that of other men and more than 40 times that of women.
The rate of primary and secondary syphilis among MSM is more than 46 times that of other men and more than 71 times that of women, the analysis says.

Political correctness is agreeing with things you know aren’t true because you want to be more accepted.  It is selfish and cowardly.  If the pro-gay theology crowd really cared about gays they’d teach what the word of God says and they’d work to reduce these disease rates.

The health care proposal is so bad that it even got the Hillbuzz gang back to church to pray.  They see that this isn’t just about a monstrosity of a health care bill.  They know it is the gateway to pass all sorts of other awful legislation that could destroy the country.

Barack Obama’s Vulnerabilities Will Get Us All Killed

George Bush never tried to disown 9/11 or Richard Reid. He never tried to say, “hey, it was Clinton’s problem.” Sure, in fact, a lot of what led to 9/11 happened on Bill Clinton’s watch and he failed in most every measure to shut down Al Qaeda.

“His White House recognised its political vulnerability more readily than it comprehended the level of danger faced by Americans.”

. . . And the strategy of blaming Bush for being weak on terror will not work after eight years of blaming Bush for being too bloodthirsty.

Two Americas: One Struggling, One Happy, Unionized, and in Government

Unions should be outlawed for government workers. Period.

Spong is still wrong — “Bishop” John Shelby Spong says he won’t debate whether homosexuality is a sin anymore.  If he would take off the collar and stop parading as a Bishop and a Christian I’d just write him off as another uninformed non-believer.  As it is, he is a hypocrite and a fake.  And not much of a clear thinker, either.  Gee, a public declaration not to debate the issue you brought up.  How brave.  Just claim victory, demonize your opponents with the silly homophobe label and move on.  Pathetic.

Spong is what happens when denominations don’t exercise church discipline.  He should have been booted out years ago, or perhaps never ordained.  Christianity is not his forte’.

Mark Tooley at the IRD (Institute of Religion and Democracy) had a great re-cap of the shenanigans of the Religious Left at the Copenhagen climate summit.  These people draw the wrong conclusions from the wrong facts.

The Global Warming cause opportunistically allows the Religious Left to collapse all its favored causes into one issue: hostility to free markets and economic growth; cravings for wealth redistribution; Western guilt; veneration for the earth at the expense of humanity; and aspirations for global governance. And despite Religious Left claims about concern for the poor, shutting down or restricting the global economy would hurt the very poor the most. Draconian carbon reductions would keep poor people poor, and the rest of us stagnant, less able to help others in need. What’s compassionate about that?

Brit Hume was right.  Tiger needs Jesus more than he needs anything else.

“Have you not read . . .”

Listening to a John MacArthur sermon on this passage about divorce got me thinking about some parallels with the pro-gay theology crowd.

Matthew 19:1-11  Now when Jesus had finished these sayings, he went away from Galilee and entered the region of Judea beyond the Jordan. 2 And large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.

3 And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” 4 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” 7 They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?” 8 He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”

10 The disciples said to him, “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” 11 But he said to them, “Not everyone can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given.

His point was how the Pharisees in Jesus’ time were wildly pro-easy-divorce.

In the beginning of Matt 19, the Jews seem to be asking for Jesus’ opinion in a rabbinic conflict in interpreting Deut 24:1. The school of Shammai allowed divorce only for adultery, the school of Hillel allowed divorce tor any reason. They are asking if Jesus favors Hillel.

Keep in mind how educated and well read the Pharisees were.  Jesus seems to heart sarcasm, because in verse 4 He says, “Have you not read . . .” and then He goes to the very beginning, in Genesis chapters 1 and 2, to point out God’s created order.  They had obviously read that and knew what is said but had deliberately ignored it.  It was as if they had said “2+2=5” and He was pointing out how ridiculous they were being for missing something so elementary.  The pro-gay theology crowd is the same way.

Sometimes I think orthodox Christians are too patient and gracious with false teachers.  There are a number of problems with pro-gay theology and we can go on all day refuting their arguments.  But in doing so we probably give them much more of a forum than they deserve.  It leaves them with the ability to pretend that it is just a toss up and that either view must be OK.

Jesus didn’t drag out the discussion with the Pharisees like we do with the pro-gay theology crowd.  I think He would have answered them the same way He did with the pro-divorce crowd, with a dig at how in their rebellion they miss the obvious: “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” They said to him, “Why then did Moses command . . .”

I could also see him saying something similar regarding abortion, i.e., “Have you not read . . . don’t murder, don’t shed innocent blood, children are a blessing, etc.?”

(Note that divorce was a hot topic in that culture while homosexuality and abortion were not.)

The Christian Post reports that a panel of Episcopal theologians are working on preparing “a paper on same-sex relationships in the life of the church.” This group of “theologians” “very intentionally represents a robust range of views on the subject and includes gays and lesbian persons.”

Wow – I am so happy to hear that a panel studying “same-sex relationships in the life of the church” includes same-sex advocates. This should be a really unbiased examination of what God’s Word has to say, dontcha think?

It is a joke that they are even asking the question.  As someone who has actually read the Bible, I’ll be glad to save them some time:

  • 100% of the verses addressing homosexual behavior denounce it as sin in the clearest and strongest possible terms.
  • 100% of the verses referencing God’s ideal for marriage involve one man and one woman.
  • 100% of the verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).
  • 0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions or oxymoronic “same sex marriage.”

We are all sinners in need of a savior, even if you excluded our sexual sins.  But Christians should never encourage sin or say that sin isn’t sin.  That is profoundly un-loving and the opposite of what Jesus did.

This is really not that complicated.  For a more thorough discussion on what the Bible really says, see Problems with pro-gay theology and Responding to Pro-Gay Theology.

Despite the lies of the Left, this is what is coming soon to a country near you: UK Police tell Christian Preacher: it’s a crime to say ‘homosexuality is a sin’. But always remember that there is definitely no homosexual agenda.

President Obama has appointed Kevin Jennings, co-founder and executive director of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN), to be Deputy Assistant Secretary of Education for the Department of Safe and Drug-Free Schools.  Read this link and see how the public face is all about alleged anti-bullying efforts but their real motives are still in the closet:

After the “town hall meeting” concluded and the media had left the building, the 210 attendees broke into private workshop groups, where GLSEN presenters expounded a markedly different vision for the future. Denouncing the quest for “tolerance” as a “condescending campaign for the second-class citizenry” —— as one speaker put it —— the presenters spoke frankly about their goal to have homosexuality open “affirmed” and celebrated” in American’s schools.

“We might start with people who…say, ‘Well, I can go as far as tolerance,’ and then we build from there,” Kalteissen said. “And our job, I believe, is to move them down the scale…Tolerance is not enough, let’s keep going.”

Hmmmm . . . is it possible that people who are aggressively trying to teach kindergartners how normal this behavior is could lie about their motives?

But always remember that there is definitely no homosexual agenda.

A new religion masquerading as Christianity — a former theological liberal explains how things changed once she quit putting her personal preferences over the commands of the Bible.

Before I came to know Christ in a saving way I was a liberal “Christian.” (That was before the liberals coined the term “progressive Christian.”) As all liberals do, I molded Christianity into my worldview. Problem was I kept running into a road block — the Bible.

I hope that the theological liberals who visit this site will make the same course correction that she did — while there is still time!

Fort Worth Episcopals vote to leave liberal denomination – Good for them.  This letter from the Ft. Worth Bishop really highlights the irreconcilable differences between them and the national church.

Bible believers don’t belong with non-Bible believers.  There are reasons the Bible teaches us not to be unequally yoked.  I hope that the United Methodist Church either splits along the same lines or that the middle grounders realize that the splits are expensive and time-consuming and quit humoring the pro-gay groups by giving them an audience.  As a bonus we’d get rid of the pro-legalized abortion crowd that pushes for the church to support the vile Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.

The apostate United Church of Christ worked hard to defeat Proposition 8 in California.  Uh, why haven’t I heard the “separation of church and state” folks complaining about that?  Where are the calls to remove their tax exempt status as there are for orthodox Christian groups who support Prop 8?  The hypocritical media and liberals just ignore things like this.

The next time you hear the “separation” canard, which fails on multiple levels, ask the person why they don’t speak out against theologically liberal churches.

Remember McCarthyism and how liberals still use the term so reflexively?  It turns out that blacklisting is OK as long as liberals are doing it.  Don’t hold your breath waiting for movies and books on this one.

Will the Methodists learn from the Episcopals?

umc-cross.jpgI really hope they do.

Kudos to the local church that is leaving the Episcopal denomination.

From an “orthodox” point of view, [Rev.] Gerber said, “The culture has begun to influence the church, rather than the church influencing the culture.”

I wish them well and hope they thrive in their new surroundings.

Now if the Methodists could just learn from that.  In an interesting juxtaposition, the Houston Chronicle religion section highlighted the expected debates on homosexuality and abortion at the upcoming General conference on the same day they reported on the Episcopals.

There won’t be consensus at the conference in the sense of harmony, but hopefully they will continue to have a large majority on the Biblical sides of these issues.  There are literally hundreds of petitions that propose to keep the stance on homosexual behavior and to get back to a Biblical model on abortion (including stopping all support for the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice).

The Methodist stance on homosexual behavior is quite sound and balanced, but it is constantly attacked.  The protestors will be out in force again this year, making a nuisance of themselves and selfishly disrupting the procedures instead of following the proper process.  They are always trying to get themselves arrested so they can play the martyr card.

The denomination’s position on abortion is something only a committee could love.

I’m really hoping that the attendees learn from the Episcopals and get more firm with this.  By extending the dialogue it gives false credibility to the bankrupt pro-gay theology.  We’d be doing everyone a favor by telling them to just move on and quit trying to destroy the denomination.  Or at least let them know that we’re tired of the bullying.  Either follow the established change process, or get arrested.  Yes, it will give them their TV sound bites but we can at least let the convention proceed in an orderly manner.
