People have heard the lame political talking point about abortion decisions being between a mother, her doctor, her family and her religion for so long that they don’t stop to think about what a ridiculous lie it is. Imagine this conversation:
Mother: I want to pay you to kill my child in the womb.
Abortionist: I’d love to, but does your OB/GYN agree? After all, the difficult decision of whether to crush and dismember an unborn child is between the mother and her doctor. Also, I need evidence that the father of the child agrees. After all, the difficult decision of whether to crush and dismember an unborn child is between the mother and her family. Oh, and if you are religious, I’ll need a note from your local leader. After all, the difficult decision of whether to crush and dismember an unborn child is between the mother and her priest/rabbi/etc. Once you provide all that evidence I’ll be glad to kill your child — and without anesthetic, of course. But I have standards, you know. I must live up to pro-abortion sound bite rhetoric!
Politely use that example the next time a pro-abort uses that slogan and watch them explode. Because they would never let anything get in the way of a mother being able to kill her child up to her first breath. And that includes the “Christian” Left*. And you know what great theology they have!
*From the “Christian” Left: “According to the bible, a fetus is not a living person with a soul until after drawing its first breath.”
Eternity Matters 
I don’t understand the point of trying to imagine statements that are so far from normal behavior that neither of the hypothetical persons you refer to would ever be remotely likely to say such things. It reads like an Ed Wood script. I admit “so bad it’s good” dialogue is part of the charm, but in this case I don’t have the added pleasure of cheap lighting and sets, or corny library music.

You missed the point. Of course they’d never speak that way (hyperbole alert!), but the sound bite implies that an abortionist would want that validation before killing the child. We ALL know that he could care less who the woman discussed the “difficult decision” with. He wants to kill the child as quickly as possible then deposit his money.

I am strongly pro-life. At the same time, I try hard not to generalize pro-choicers as murderers or depraved. I know many pro-choice advocates, including Christians, who are repulsed by abortion. Many simply believe that placing government between a woman and her doctor is unacceptable. Conservatives should understand this as they rail against Obamacare and nationalized healthcare out of their determination to keep government out of the health care business. Government is not generally good when it makes decisions for us. So why let them make health care decisions for us? I get this and can understand this position. I simply believe that the unborn is a life worthy of protection because it cannot protect itself, therefore it needs government protection. So I see it as a unique situation. But I am careful not to demonize those who do not agree. But it does matter why someone is pro-choice because it really is a matter of conscience. If the person simply is callous toward the unborn, then I do take offense.

Thanks for visiting and commenting. I see some of your points about generalizations, but I don’t follow some of your other points.

That may be true in that they really believe that, but the point of this post is whether that is a logical belief. What if the woman and her doctor wanted to kill a toddler? Would it be acceptable to place the government in between them then? If so, then why not protect the unborn child as well?

I’m glad you want gov’t completely out of our healthcare! But you are playing into the pro-aborts hands when you call child-killing a “health care decision.”
