Do you like the “learn” part or just the “yoke is easy” part?

This is a powerful and comforting passage that even non-Christians “Liked” on my Facebook page.  But do they really like all of it?

Matthew 11:28–30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

We all want rest and ease from our burdens.  But do we really want to learn from him?  Because you know what that means, right?  Studying the Bible carefully.

And do they even get the “yoke” part?  That means you want to be tied to Jesus and going the same direction as him.  Just listen to people talk for a few minutes and it is easy to see who thinks they should be the one leading.

My prayer for you this year is that you study his word carefully and let him lead.
