Via When Jesus Rebukes the Persecuted Church — “Via Would Jesus ever rebuke the persecuted church? He did 2,000 years ago.”
Revelation 2:12–17 “And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: ‘The words of him who has the sharp two-edged sword. “ ‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality. So also you have some who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.’
That is a fascinating angle. We rightfully have sympathy for the persecuted church, but Jesus still holds it responsible for false teachers in its midst. How much more so does the non-persecuted church have this responsibility! The “Christian” Leftists do exactly what they Balaam-types did: Push sexual immorality. Churchgoers who support “same-sex marriage” — i.e., the “Christian” Left — have nearly identical views to the world on a host of issues such as abortion, adultery, porn, etc.. It shows who their real father is.
1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.
Jude 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Outing these wolves isn’t a nice-to-have thing, it is a key role of the church. Woe to these false teachers! Seriously, that’s what Jude said:
Jude 11 Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion.
The “Christian” Left walked in the way of Cain by making up their own forms of worship and a god in their own image, and they profited by committing Balaam’s error and inducing people to sexual immorality and they are like Korah & Co. who rebelled at the rightful church leaders.
Shared… great post. A good reminder that we are always to be on our guard against false teachers when they arise.
