This is how we should answer “gotcha” questions

I’m still for Cruz over Rubio — though that would make a nice ticket! — but props to Rubio for nailing the media and Hillary again.

This is how it should be done, folks.  Look how easy it is!  Don’t let people put you on the defensive.  Use “verbal judo” to turn it back on them.   Via: How Marco Rubio Shuts Down A Gotcha Question And What It Means:

Asked Wednesday if a fertilized egg should have legal protections, Senator Marco Rubio parlayed it into an opportunity to attack Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton on abortion rights. “I don’t know what you’re talking—I believe all life is worthy of the protection of our laws. That’s what I believe,” he said at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. The Republican presidential candidate continued: “I believe it is outrageous that Hillary Clinton supports partial-birth abortion, which is a gruesome process that’s been outlawed in the United States.” He said he looks forward to “exposing” her “radical” and “minority” positions on abortion in the general election.

See how easy that was?  Don’t deny the facts and get defensive, turn it around and show who the well-documented extremists are.  You get bonus points for bringing up science and how all the mainstream embryology textbooks agree with us that a new human being is created as fertilization.

Same thing with the rape/incest questions.  They are designed to make you look uncaring toward rape victims.  But how easy is this response?

I’m glad you brought up the topic of rape and incest. Those are terrible crimes that we should seek to prevent, and we should ensure that the victims aren’t further victimized and that there is justice for the rapists. If you propose the death penalty for the rapist I’d consider that, but why is it the first option for the innocent child? It is a scientific fact that the unborn are human beings from fertilization.

Abortionists like Planned Parenthood help hide the crimes. They have been caught countless times hiding statutory rape, incest (which is another form of rape) and sex trafficking. If you really care about rape, then protest Planned Parenthood and how they systematically hide statutory rape and sex trafficking.

Rapes results in less than 1% of abortions. Those abortions are still wrong, but for the record, would you oppose outlawing all abortions, except those in the cases of rape, incest and to save the life of the mother? If not, then why not admit that you are really just pro-abortion and you use the rape card to advance your cause? Do not exploit rape victims to justify abortion.   Abortion doesn’t undo the trauma of rape, it compounds it. It is another way of a stronger person abusing a weaker person.

I hope all the other conservatives are watching.  This is so easy and so effective.

  1. Sometimes there is no answer. I was talking to a (non-Christian) coworker about the ludicrous Planned Parenthood tweet. He parried with, “Abortion has given lots of people a better life.” If that works in someone’s head, there is no answer. “Are you talking about the 2 million babies that were murdered or the 2 million mothers that ordered it as having a better life?” If “People have a better life by killing others” works in their heads, where can you go?
