The “Christian” Left routinely calls people bigots who refuse to violate their consciences and religious beliefs by participating in “same-sex weddings.” They mock Bible-believing [Read: authentic] Christians as being anti-science, haters, anti-women, etc.
But note how Jesus defeats Darwinian evolution, oxymoronic “same-sex marriage” and same-sex parenting arguments in one simple passage. No true follower of him should disagree on any of those topics.
Matthew 19:4–5 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?”
Jesus is still asking them that question today, and the answer from the “Christian” Left is, “No, we haven’t read that” — or, rather, “We read that but didn’t like it so we ‘know’ you didn’t really say that.”
If they really cared about what Jesus said then this would scare them to death:
Mark 8:38 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
They are ashamed of the real Jesus, but they aren’t scared because they don’t really listen to anything He says. They just find a few spots where He appears to agree with them, then they pretend that they are the “real” church. I suppose it would be too much work if they were honest and just started their own religion.
I hope they repent and believe before it is too late. They can lie to themselves but they won’t convince Jesus.
So true. And it makes me wonder again, what exactly is the fear of the Lord?
Someone yesterday at church described a friend of his who had been active in his old church, but decided he was gay, and now attends a gay church. The person told me that everything he tried to discuss from the Scriptures was met with an answer which disregarded the clear intent of the passage. We would call this eisegesis (reading into the Bible what we want to find), which should scare us as you describe in your post.
Should we work out our Salvation with fear and trembling? It seems so antiquated in today’s world. Is God just love?

They have started their own religion, they just are not honest enough to say so.

Exactly right, Timothy. And how do we proclaim the authentic Christianity when there are more and more imposters claiming loudly and eloquently how right they are, and how wrong and unloving we are for insisting that love is united with truth?
Difficult and important questions…

Every time I have seen someone who was in the church turn to atheism, a false religion, or an immoral lifestyle it was because they no longer were willing to believe what the Bible teaches. When the truthfulness of God’s word is doubted it always leads to apostasy. Always. Perhaps God in his grace will lead them back but that will come when they trust his word.
