9 Things You Should Know About Duck Dynasty – I don’t watch it, but it sounds good.
1. Long before he appeared on the hit A&E series, patriarch Phil Robertson was considered the “Billy Graham of duck hunting.” His first public-speaking opportunity came in the early 1990s when he was asked to give a duck-calling seminar at the Superdome in New Orleans before a 1,000 people. After talking about duck calls and hunting, Robertson reached into his bag and pulled out his Bible. “Folks, while I’m here,” he said, “I think I’m gonna preach you a little sermon.” Afterwards, he received other opportunities to speak and preach and was soon booked years in advance to talk to churches and other organizations.
3. Although the family is often shown praying at the end of each episode, Phil Robertson says that the show’s producers are frequently uncomfortable with the family’s strong Christian faith. “They pretty much cut out most of the spiritual things,” Robertson told The Christian Chronicle. “We say them, but they just don’t run them on the show.”

They are coming for us: Gay activist introduces bill to ban speech critical of homosexuality in schools. Yet I can still hear the drones chanting, “But ‘same-sex marriage’ won’t affect you!!!’’” Make no mistake, they won’t rest until we are silenced. I wonder if they will consider it “hate speech” to quote the CDC statistics that gays have HIV and Syphilis rates that are over 40 times that of straight men?
Not just public schools, but private schools, including Christian schools.
“Homosexual activists in Minnesota are pushing for a broad “Safe and Supportive Schools Act” that would outlaw speech that could interfere with a student’s ability “to participate in a safe and supportive learning environment.” The bill is being promoted as the strongest “anti-bullying” law in the nation, but critics say it could have a chilling effect on free speech, especially in religious schools that teach Christian beliefs on sexuality.”

Randy Alcorn on Distractions, Obsessions, and Kingdom Work – How do you know when your hobbies or activities have become idols and barriers to you being a good ambassador? This is a good reminder for all of us. (Emphasis added)
I think what we’ve got to do is look at everything in our lives and ask, “Is this under the lordship of Christ?” Christ is to be Lord of my whole life—including my house, car, hobbies, television-watching, and whatever role sports may have in my life.
In 1 Corinthians 10:31 we’re told, “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” So with anything in my life, I have to say, “Can I do this to God’s glory?” and also “Am I actually doing this to God’s glory?”
Whether it’s fantasy football or quilting, whether it’s Facebooking or email or movie-watching—whatever it is—is this thing an instrument or a tool of God in my life that’s bringing about some good things like rest, recreation, and intellectual stimulation? Or is this thing a bad thing that is distracting me from kingdom priorities? Instead of doing this, could I be developing a relationship with my neighbor, helping someone who’s in need, spending time in God’s Word, reading a great book, or talking with my children?
So it’s not about legalism or a hard and fast rule that says, “You must do this or you must do that.” But it is about weighing and evaluating and finding a balance in our lives. . . .

Good news! Passerby with concealed carry in Wisconsin saves woman’s life. Too bad the media won’t run that story for weeks on end.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Duck Dynasty. I mentioned the show in another comment on your site Neil to show the bias in TV against Christianity. A&E cuts “In jesus name” before Phil says Amen.
The family are long time members of the Church of Christ. (You know, we baptism for salvation people!) Phil has been an elder of the congregation in West Monroe LA.
The family does not cuss. One episode A&E decided to bleep out selected words to make appear as if Willie and his wife had cursed. In actuality they said non-curse words. They weren’t too pleased about A&E doing that.
The one disappointment I’ve had with the show is the episode where Willie decides to buy a vineyard. They have a wine tasting at the end. Wrong message to send in my opinion.

I have mixed feelings when they cut out Jesus’ name. It is offensive on one level, but also a reminder that they fear what is real.

While Michelle Shocked is cancelled for “anti-gay remarks” and Tebow bows out of speaking at an “anti-gay church” and they’re aiming to “ban speech critical of homosexuality in schools”, “The comedian” (or whomever else you wish to fill in) ” was cancelled for hate speech against Christians” said no one ever.
