Clinton to Receive Planned Parenthood’s Highest Award, named after eugenicist Margaret Sanger. What a vile award. It speaks volumes that Clinton would be a recipient. PP tries to downplay Sanger’s eugenics work as if it was just some quirky trait, but it was foundational to her philosophy. Among other things, she would bribe black ministers so they would encourage their congregations to be sterilized.
eugenics [(yooh-jen-iks)] – The idea that one can improve the human race by careful selection of those who mate and produce offspring.
Note: Eugenics was a popular theory in the early twentieth century but is no longer taken seriously, primarily because of the horrors of the eugenic efforts of the Nazi regime in Germany.
Enjoy your award, Hillary. Sanger would be proud that you aggressively support abortion policies that eliminate blacks at three times the rate of whites.

The Right to Bear Arms: Successes of the Week — Yea for well armed citizens and concealed weapons permits! If only the media would trumpet these successes then perhaps more bad guys would consider another line of work — or at least a less violent form of theft, such as politics. Criminals understand odds better than you think.

Rights, Religion, and the Soul of the Nation — Timely piece on a foundational issue with socialism and communism. Polls show that “70% of mainline clergy believe the government should play a more active role in solving social problems and 90% of UCC clergy support more active government intervention in social issues,” and some “Christian” pastors (the fake kind) think that is something to be proud of. But the consequences of government attempting to provide everything are horrific. They fail miserably and leave drastic unintended consequences in their wake.
The idea that everyone has a right to everything and that it will all be provided by an omniscient and presumably beneficent government is a seductive one. Justice is, after all, a Christian virtue. In reality, however, a world of rights and distributive justice is dry, heartless, and dehumanizing. It is a world driven entirely by duty and, as such, it is a world that makes generosity and gratitude—two basic religious impulses—impossible. To use Martin Luther’s terms, it is a world of law with no room for grace. Where demands and duty rule the day, charity is superfluous. Schall writes:
“In a socialist world, no charity can exist because there can be no need that is unfulfilled by the commonality’s duty. It is a world in which there can be no gratitude. I can thank someone for giving me what is really his. I cannot thank him for giving me what is by rights already mine. “

Eternity Matters 
Yes, I wish that more people knew the truth about Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger. I know a woman that has had a very difficult life that is a flaming liberal who supports planned parenthood. If she knew the truth, things would be so much different.
And it doesn’t shock me at all that Clinton is receiving the award.

Regarding gov’t solving social problems, I’m not surprised about the UCC, since they’re certifiable loons anyway, but 70% of “mainline” church leaders? By “mainline”, do they mean runnin’ smack? because one would need to be totally baked to think that the gov’t is equipped to deal with such things. And the regime under which we now suffer has shown itself to be woefully inadequate in that regard (as in every other regard).
Seems to me that if our religious leaders were doing their jobs properly, instead of totally watering down God’s Word, there’d likely be fewer “issues” to overcome.
I recently became aware of a young girl I know who has become pregnant. Her mother is a church going woman, as is her grandmother. She also was a fairly regular until this happened. She was somewhat of a problem child and was for the last two or three years sent to a Christian school. Now, with two months before graduation, she has been expelled. (It is believed her father, from whom her mother is divorced, “spilled the beans”—but no matter.)
How did this girl attend church, Sunday school, Christian school and not get the message about staying pure until marriage? Would gov’t help here? Likely, they’d only pass out condoms. It’s my feeling that this school, that I had considered a good conservative school, is dumping her to avoid the bad advertising that a pregnant student would bring a school of it’s kind. How very unChristian to turn their backs on a kid in trouble. How likely is it that she will now turn her back on God? I’m guessing sexual purity is not routinely stressed at this school.
And so the social ramifications continue.

Marshall, the current pastor at my church (United Methodist) has mentioned in two sermons (so far) how exciting it is that President Obama is going to make great changes and eliminate our old system which has proven to be a failure.
Recently the students in my high school Sunday school class, informed me that they thought it would be stupid for a couple not to live together before they were married. (we spent a few weeks correcting that misconception, although I may get fired for it)
A prominent family in our church has not had a marriage before pregnancy in two generations, so only one pastor has been willing to say anything against sex before marraige for years and he was forced out.
Our pastor recently baptized the child of an unmarried coupte and had them announce the repentance of their sins though they had just bought a house together and had no plans for marriage. So what would make our kids think living together is a sin.
Now you probably wonder why I am still there, but as long as they let me teach that Sunday School class, I will keep teaching the Bible.

On Popes getting it wrong. Do Muslims and Christians worship the same God?
I will try to make an analogy using President Obama. No one knows everything about Obama but many people know he is the president. Believe it or not some people do not know he supports abortion. Some people do not know what kind of car he drives.
It makes no sense to say that my president Obama is different than yours because you believe or know different things about him. He is the same Obama even if we believe things about him that are not true.
Here is one thing Christians and Muslims both know about God. He created the universe. Only one God did this. Muslims worship that God, so do Christians.
Muslims do not know that Jesus was sent by the Father to save us from our sins. Christians do. Christians obviously know God better.

I think your analogy breaks down when you examine important truth claims of Christianity and Islam. It isn’t just that Christians know God a little more, or even a lot more (actually, Islam claims that they know more). Both religions make many specific claims about important attributes of God that can’t both be true.
Here’s an example from the Koran:
That is a very clear claim that Jesus did not die on the cross, whereas we know from the Bible and even secular history that Jesus did die on the cross. One guy came along over 500 years later with a radical new story with zero evidence behind it.
They also deny that Jesus is God. The Bible teaches 100 times directly and indirectly that Jesus is the only way to salvation it is full of commands not to worship other gods. If everyone just knew a little more or less about the same God then those commands wouldn’t make sense.

My small group just studied this proposition last night. We examined several verses from the Quran, direct from the Arabic with help from some of our Arab Christian comrades. One verse in particular stood out to me, and although I am paraphrasing it here, you will get the point. It basically stated that there is no hope for those whom Allah leads astray, he leads astray those whom he wants too, and they are forever doomed because this is his will.
Contrast that to God, who wants everyone to come to a knowledge of Him and His Son so no one would perish.
Both of these concepts cannot be true.

I totally agree that Christianity and Islam see God differently.
The two religions disagree on key issues. They can’t both be true. However, did you understand my analogy? I believe there is a lack of understanding of those who can not see that both religions know there is only one God. One religion knows that God, the other religion thinks they do.

Re. the astronaut analogy: Yes, I’m still the same Neil but I can’t get you where you are going (into space) just as Allah can’t save you. (Perhaps that is what you meant by it).

I am usually able to convey a thought but have been unsuccessful on this point. Some things that seem very clear to me are not so to everyone. We all experience that. I am sure you have found yourself saying, ‘Why don’t they understand?’
Anyway, the Pope’s explanation is clear to me as well as Biblical.

Neil, I am not a big NRA fan and I don’t think I ever will be. I believe those probably aren’t the people committing crimes with guns. Guns are just like cigarettes they are legal but they aren’t good for anybody.
