18 to 1

I am sickened by the over the top bias against Sarah Palin.  I mean, we expect the media to be biased – even very biased – but for the “big 3” to be showing 18 negative stories to 1 positive story on her is just unfathomable.

Why have so many Americans turned against Palin, who made such a strong impression on the public when John McCain introduced her as his running mate at the Republican convention in September?  Most likely, it’s because the few good reports they’ve heard about the Alaska governor have been overwhelmed by a blizzard of bad reports. ABC, NBC and CBS news shows are covering Palin intensively, and they are running 18 negative stories for every positive one.

Network coverage of Palin has moved beyond criticism to outright ridicule.  Strikingly, all three networks have repeatedly aired clips of Palin being parodied by a comedy show, NBC’s Saturday Night Live, leading to concerns that many Americans are confusing the real Palin with SNL’s figure of fun.  When have comic impressions of a political figure ever qualified as hard news?

When is the last time you heard a story about the “glass ceiling” that was endlessly reported when Hillary was running?  I guess that isn’t a big deal if the allegedly anti-women conservatives select one.  Oh, wait a minute, that should be an even bigger news item!

They distort and replay alleged Palin gaffes repeatedly, but give Biden a pass and ignore Obama’s stammering whenever he doesn’t have a teleprompter.

Friendly reminder: Whatever you say about Palins’ alleged lack of experience goes double for Obama.  At least double.

Anyone who complains about Palin’s lack of experience but not Obama’s has a serious problem with rational thought and/or intellectual integrity.

  1. I know, Neil. It is VERY disheartening. But I think that the best revenge will be victory for McCain/Palin ’08 on Tuesday, Nov. 4th!

Take a look at one of my recent posts displaying some posters. My favorite is the second one down with Sarah Palin in it! It will make you smile…

  2. I’ve had one visitor at my blog (GKS) suggest that there is a plethora of evidence showing Palin is unqualified. Still waiting to see some of it. In the meantime, there has been no logical, articulate explanation for why anyone should support Obama. Nothing that supports a case for his worthiness. Look at Colin Powell’s reasons for supporting him and you get the same meaningless descriptions of who Obama is and why he should be supported. All one has to do is consider that if there was any great accomplishment that could be attributed to him, we’d hear it until we puke. All we get is empty rhetoric.

  3. Christine – yes, I liked your post so much I already linked to it in a post set to go up mid-day today! The voter’s guide is great.

Marshall – yes, even critics such as the ones you’ve mentioned prove our point. However unqualified they say Palin is, the criteria they use would demonstrate that Obama is less qualified.

It is only in the bizarro world of GKS, Powell, et al where the skill of reading teleprompter would make one qualified. But even then, Palin is as good a speaker as Obama.

  4. I think Sarah Palin is okay. She is a good example of a woman of faith. I do agree with her stand against gay marriage. God has called us according to our talents and being in politics is not Mrs. Palin talent! She may be a good public figure but she is not a good politician.

  5. David Brooks, Kathleen Parker, George Will and Peggy Noonan, bona fide conservatives all, have written about Palin’s poor qualifications. So, it seems not just the liberal media you need decry….

  6. And yet she still is more qualified than Obama – that is, what little you know about Obama. We’re still waiting on these, or for the MSM to even ask for them. He is the ultimate empty suit, which sadly appeals to much of our shallow culture.

  7. Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that the media is focused like a laser beam on Sarah Palin’s “inexperience,” yet not a word about Joe Biden’s years of experience being one of the most dunderheaded lummoxes on Captiol Hill?

Mr. “When the stock market crashed, FDR got on televison.” Just imagine if Sarah Palin had said that.
