Spring Ballet pictures

Here are a few pictures from the girls’ ballet last weekend (they are in a pre-professional company called the Houston Repertoire Ballet).  I am not an expert in ballet by any stretch, but I have seen a few of these shows.  And this one was the best I’ve seen.  Every other account I heard agreed. They did a great mix of styles in showcasing a history of ballet.

I never get tired of watching my daughters dance.  They and some of their friends got to do several solos this time which should be a great experience for them.

My wife’s parents came for a visit and her sister made a surprise flight down from Ohio.  It was a great weekend.  The whole group worked incredibly hard and it went over really well.  Only 222 days until the Nutcracker shows!

  1. Thanks. I know how hard you dancers work to make things look easy! My oldest daughter has a shirt that says, “If ballet were any easier it would be football.”

  2. Neil,

I am impressed. I took Ballet, Tap and Jazz for three years when I was a little girl. It is NOT easy at all (especially when you are built for Martial Arts).

You are justified in your pride.

  3. Sounds like a nice troop, not your ordinary recital group. You should be proud. You Said: “sister made a surprise flight down from Ohio” Where in Ohio. We’re from Central OH. . . . . . . . Next Stop Lauderdale

  4. Thanks Teresa – they make it look easy, but I know it isn’t. One thing we do know is that none of their talent came from me! I’m the unofficial photographer for them, so sometimes I take pics from the wings. They are so dainty and elegant onstage, then when they come offstage they double over and breathe like freight trains. It is an interesting juxtaposition!

Hey Steve – I grew up in Akron, and my wife grew up in Euclid (outside Cleveland). All her siblings are still in that area. We go up once a year. I don’t miss the weather. Houston is really hot in the summer, but you don’t have to shovel humidity. Good move on your part to go to Lauderdale!
